Runway Length

What happens if you've scheduled a route that has a runway that is too short for the plane you put on it?  I just realized I did this and am curious.

Your flight will be limited to x amount of passengers.

Ok, so my runway requirement for the plane is 1580, and the runway is 1320 in length, standard seating is 85.

How many seats am I looking at losing here? A significant amount?  Should I reconfigure my seats so that they are maybe the deluxe seats, since I am going to be forced to have a lower capacity anyways?

not entirely true.

Sami has modeled this better than that.  If the runway is too short, it will either have fewer pax or less fuel.  It IS possible to fly a fully loaded large plane on a very short leg from an airfield that has a short runway.  So, we can't answer this question.  Just plug it in to the route planner and it will tell you.

I don't see any way to select a plane to see potential results.

It is in fact a short route, 197nm on a plane that can go ~2300nm.

When scheduling this route I did not receive any warnings.

exactly.  The plane will just have very little fuel on board.

Remember that the TOR (take off roll) is for a fully loaded plane.

If you didn't see any warnings you can fly maximum load.  If it is short, you get a BIG box on the right hand side of the screen with potential limits.

Perfect.  Thanks guys.  Route seems to be operating at full capacity.

Next question.

As the game goes on do airports ever expand their runway length?
