Now that Alliance challenge ended and Euro challenge as well as North America challenge haven't been played for almost a year now (correct me if I'm wrong)  wouldn't it be great to start one of those again from January 2011?

For those scenario's it might be a good idea to use the previouse game engine which allows us ABCBA routes, but would force us to usr just 1 base airport.

At least I enjoyed both Euro challenges and N America challenge, and I believe most AWS addicts around here did as well.

Please debate....

I would be in. I enjoued Euro Challenge (even though it did not end well for my airline...) and Alliance challenge, but I was not around for the North American Challenge.

If we do, could we limit the aircraft types again?

The next time I play NA Challenge I am whipping Sami's butt for sure   :)

I think late Jan/early Feb would be a good time for another, short game.

Indeed "very large" ac shiuld be excluded once again. As would top 10/15 basing.

Can we just change the whole thing, call it "B1900 Challenge". Whole World only B1900, YES!.....Ok, Ok....E120...but not the ER.

that's not a bad idea actually, make a challenge where only one aircraft type is available.
Modern time period, realistic fuel prices and limited to IL-62 only, that'd be hard

But we got to think carefully about it. It might be a bad game instead of challenging one.

Choosing different fleet is always one of the major factor affecting our performance. If it is restricted to only 1 type of aircraft, then it will be a competition of choosing the best airport with most route to fly with that bird and competition of offering lower ticket price. No more selecting different fleet for different routes, no strategy needed. More or less, the one who spend the most time will win.

Just my opinion.

I don't think you want to face a 8 year order backlog because every player is forced to buy the same type of AC.

EuroChallenge was a big battle and I believe the America one has been as well.

geez you guys have no imagination...why not an Asia Challenge?! we've had a number of NA games....EU games....and EU/NA game but nothing outside of that! why not Asia? it's definitely one of the biggest markets.... ;)

Japanese Challenge? :P

 I've vote for just an Asia Challenge in general. Just Japan is too defined. :P

After playing in all of the regional challenges and the alliance challenge, I feel that these scenarios just don't work.  The most successful airlines become too dominant as the market is less competitive once a few 'big' airlines emerge.  These airlines become virtually impossible to challenge and players become dispondent as the number of potential bases is lower, thus preventing smaller airlines to prevail.  Running a regional airline is of course possible, but if a big fish decides to move in there's no way to respond.  I've seen this from both sides.

I would love the possibility of operating a small regional airline, but the current structure and format does not allow this fully.  At least in the full worlds, the players are spread out a bit more and you can be relatively untouched in certain markets.  Without the regulation and restrictions on airspace to prevent heavy competition on local markets, I really can't see how these worlds would satisfy the majority of players.

I've yet to see a smaller world retain a high number of players throughout and can't see why things would be any different now.  Surely waiting for v1.3 and the differences the new worlds will offer is the best option, rather than temporarily attracting a few new players to a world that ultimately ends with less than 50% of potential players.  Sorry to be a bore, but I the regional worlds just don't seem to work in my eyes.

I find these regional worlds great - look at AC for example: I started up against "Ice Air" in Sweden of all places...he had a respectable fleet of 69 aircraft and never really budged the entire game (from what I know anyway). I built up a fleet of B737-200Adv aircraft, then started replacing them with B737-300s. I got up to the point where I actually overtook the other airline...all because I focused on becoming the market leader in just one area and pushing him out of that area - and I loved seeing me grow to 70 aircraft (a whole aircraft more than the competitor had ;D ) even with his huge presence there. IMO I really enjoy them when I have the time. :P
