I was in the process of leasing some planes, 737-300's and realized after the fact that I accidently leased a -200 by accident.  Is it possible to cancel the lease before I get the plane or am I stuck with it until i get the plane and then cancel the lease.  I'll prob. just keep it and see what happens.  Anyone have any info. about this?

I don't think it's possible to cancel the lease before you get the plane.
Also, 737-200 and -300 are in the same fleet group, so you won't get any extra maintenance costs because of that airplane, so you might just as well put it on your routes.

Actually, they aren't in the same fleet group. But, I would agree that you should try it out and if it's profitable (enough to make-up for the added commonality costs) then keep it at least until the lease expires.  :)

My main concern was with efficiency of this plane.  The JT8 was a huge gas hog versus the CFM56 on the -300, but I started thinking that If I do cancel this lease, the cost of leasing it in the first place, then canceling it would be a HUGE hit prob. more than made up for by just sticking it on a route and taking the hit fuel efficiency wise.  Thanks for the input.  much appreciated.

Oh, right, don't know what I was thinking  ::)
But yeah, since cancellation costs half of the remaining lease amount, if the aircraft makes more than 3/4 of its lease (plain profit) you should be better off than cancelling it.

Well, It's profiting $70,000 a day so I guess I'll keep it.

You'll be lucky if its covering its fleet commonality costs.

The 70k "profit" number is only based on revenue minus variable costs (fuel + landing fees) and depending on the pgae you look at, your lease is factored in. Fleet commonality for the fleet type might wipe out that entire plane's work...
