Fuel prices

I'm curious where they are coming up with the standard fuel prices?  They seem to be about twice what I can find for standard or average worldwide fuel prices.  Anyone know any info. about this?  Check out this fuel price monitor site.

The prices in the master database are the actual & real historical prices.

But all of the current game worlds use a customized fuel pricing set as noted in game area front page next to each game world.

Can you show me where you get this information, please?  I understand that using a set price for the game is needed, but when the real world price seems to fall around 238/gal, where do you come up with 478/gal?  or whatever it currently is. I just was wondering why the price seems so far off reality.

All the games are "Custom" fuel prices.  This means Sami picks random numbers, not in any way related to reality.  This is to throw off cheaters who will operate cheap gas-hogs until known fuel-spikes, then ditch them for something more fuel-efficient.

Jps

And Sami was pointing out that he has all the real world data, but it is not used at the moment. Instead, like mentioned,  the prices are random.

I think adjusting over to real world prices would be a very easy fix, and it would free up a lot of money for people.  It's hard enough to build an airline as it is without paying twice what real world fuel costs.  This game seems pretty realistic to me so far, but I'm still a n00b, so how about realistic fuel prices instead of pulling a price out of my...  hat?

Fuel prices at this moment are 556/gal.  seriously?  This would kill any airline.  How about a fuel hedging program?

how about bio jet fuel?

Sami

You are not paying twice of the fuel.

Like mentioned several times already, presently none of the game worlds (apart from Beginner world and Demo) follow real world (= historical) prices. Because it is too easy to google the development of prices between 1980 and 1990 for example and plan your airline according to that. => Prices are customized but still do loosely follow the general price levels (= not triple what is reasonable for that era etc..).

And the price is not USD per gallon. It's USD per metric ton (1000 kg), ie. $400/1000kg. (equalling $120/gal?)

I guess that would be roughly $400/250gal = $1.60 per galon.  That seems reasonable.

Yes, sorry xxx c/gal. Not $.
