The Sapparo-Haneda route is 40% in AWS of what it is in real life with Gimpo-Jeju being 7% in AWS of what it is in real life. 93% off is quite a bit.

sami, you just got flamed! ;D

but that really needs improvement!

But if sami gives the proper demand to all the routes in the game I am not going to be able to fly a 777 from Delhi to Honolulu. That is the one thing everybody complains about how there aren't enough passengers on major trunk routes but I think the game makes up for it by allowing you to fly city pairs you are not normally able to fly.

ICEcoldair881

like kabul, Afghanistan to JFK being a trunk route. ;D I vote we keep it the way we are... I want to make an airline flying from Kabul and only serving the US, UK, Canada and all other "sensitive" countries.

Japan domestic demand are base on official data published by MILT  :P

It seems to me that is the way it is. For example when I was based in Denver, I could fly 2x daily 737-800's to Blue Grass, yet there wasn't route demand to fly from Las Vegas to London, when there are 5 LH airlines flying there in real life.

What Sami has always said, is that he doesn't want to create a game that just replicates the real world. If that were the case, players would just copy airlines route maps and schedules. Just because an airline might not connect London and Kabul, doesn't mean there isn't any demand for it. A world of demand based on IRL pax numbers would leave in game pax demand of 0. Which is just as wrong as some of the examples given in the first post here.
Also, if we had perfect real life demand, there would be a hell of a lot more data involved (pax numbers for every route pair in the world every year of the game), and that is neither fair on Sami, or very neccesary.

That said. Certain areas of the demand formulae, i.e. South American domestic flights, are well off what they should be. But I think sami is planning on sorting some of these in time for v1.3.

Jps

I don't think any major modifications should be made to pax calculation before (hopefully sometime next year) the new city based demand is included.

LHR-LAS is +/- 200, BUT
LGW-LAS is +/-800!!! so basically, you just got to see both important London airports...
similar it is with Larnaca and Paphos! Larnaca is mainly to LHR, while Paphos goes mainly to LGW...

It's said Johannesburg to Cape Town has 453 551 passenger / month but it have only 16000 passengers / month and have more passenger than route from Singapore to Jarkarta but from SIN-CGK have more !

SIN-CGK 130000 passengers / month in AWS but 442,009 in real life
JNB-CPT 16000 passengers / month in AWS but 453,551 in real life
JNB-DUR 6100 passengers / month in AWS but 337,720 in real life !

Are all of you using the game year's statistics? For example if you are using year 2000 figures of course they are going to be off by current day demands.

You must remember that the current year in the real world is 2011 and air travel has really grown in the last 10 years (excluding 9/11 where growth slowed).

And you must remember also that demand is generically derived at the moment, the devs don't have enough time to model each persons favourite route pair to real life demand.

As has already been said, the idea is to forge our own sim, not just recreate what is happening in the real world.

As also mentioned, if you have problems with the demand system at the moment, your best bet is to look out for city based demand in future game versions.
