Has anyone, rather than go bankrupt and start a new game...

just completely cleared their schedules and rearranged flight times, and cities (the cities you already serve) etc... Just wondered if thats a good way to go rather than go bankrupt. I would imagine you would lose CI and RI but would it matter really? Seems to me it might be a better alternative than going bankrupt, starting out at zero again, when you could just revamp what you already have. Any thoughts on the subject? (And sure, it would depend on how close your airline is to going down the drain.)Anyway just a thought. :-\

Err... shouldn't one always rearrange routes when the airline is not profitable? Otherwise it's just one of the airlines left to erode and die away.

When an airline doesn't anymore have funds to rearrange things the bankcruptcy is near. Getting rid of wrong planes can costly as is opening new routes.

Maybe I misunderstood something?

I'm not sure how else to explain it. I guess just click "clear schedule", do some major rearraning and start over that way. I know its hard to explain what I mean.  The closest word that comes to mind is "makeover", LOL!!!

In most cases you bankrupt because you have no money to do tasks like them.

If your airline has problems, you notice them and do not reschedule aircraft, cancel leases, marketing, bases etc., maybe you should read again the manual, the newbie threads in the forums and ask sami about another chance in the beginners world. I'm serious, for sure this could help lots of people who have problems.

But to get back to your question... This would make sense in only one scenario: All of your routes are not good. In all other scenarios it may be an option to close some routes, close a base etc., but never shut down the whole airline and start again.

I did this recently.  Good thing I had good cash reserves.  I lost millions while redoing my routes.  In the end, it was worth it because the situation had so radically changed, and I was not utilizing my planes well.  Even so, if you're going to do it, you had better have bundles of cash!

This is why I and others have been advocating the ability to create whole sets of dummy schedules that you can change to your hearts content.  Then, transfer everything over to the new scheduling.  I wouldn't think it would be that hard, but I'm not a programmer.

I've done it before, with mixed results.  Sometimes I have done just a few aircraft to try and get better routes and more efficient schedules.  And in one situation I did it to every plane I had (over 200 at the time) and sold a bunch and terminated leases on a bunch and redid my schedule...my crippling long-term decisions however couldn't prevent me from having a massive failure that time...lol

I did it once with my 717's it helped a lot. I also identified a lot more routes that were undeserved.
