Anyone knows when new world will start?

God I hope soon and with less players.... I'm really close to quit the game with so many players

At the moment there are no fixed plans yet. Since there are two long/large worlds operaing with player spaces in them. AND also because some coding work would be needed before a new world is launched (which most likely is a "early" world that starts in 1950s or 1960s).

(been a bit of early summer holiday for me for the last two weeks, since it's been extremely nice weather here in Finland, so haven't done much lately on AWS .. +25C or so which is kind of unusual for this time of year)

Thank you for bad news ;)

Anyway, hope new world will have max 300-350 players as +500 is not fun so much...

Maybe due to the volcano ?
I agree it is difficult to work on coding with a beautiful sunny and hot weather

Sami

Yea well, it's now +11C and raining, so have been on the computer for most of today.

Yea. I agree. In a 500 players world, it is very difficult for a player to join after the game started because all the large to medium size airports are occupied. In ATB, everyone is operating a 2nd base and even small airports are occupied. Also all the quality planes were leased out and not much choices for the late comers.

I agree with the first statement but disagree with the second. As I've watched the used a/c markets recently, I've seen quite a few good quality a/c of popular types pop up relatively often, especially Boeings. If I had money to buy, I probably could have, considering how long some of them were left on the market before being purchased. I'd say there's plenty of room for newcomers in terms of aircraft, though certainly not as much room in terms of viable base airports.

Curse

ATB:
Since some real life days there are A300(B4), B727-200Adv, B737-200Adv, ATR-42/ATR-72, B747-200, B747-300, B757-200, DHC-8-300B/E, DC-9, DC-10 and MD-11 in good numbers on the used market.

I'm sure you can create a very good airline out of these aircraft types, so where's the problem? Also nearly all (except Heathrow? :P) airports have lots of slots left... also there are some very good airports to start, because the current airlines aren't successful.

GDK

Maybe most airlines are getting new planes and start releasing their elder fleet to the market. When I left the game, the used aircraft market was still drought of MDs, Boeing, Airbuses and ATRs. But airport is really a tough issue. I'm not sure the condition of other airports, but smaller airports in Malaysia such as BKI and PEN are occupied. I can't even find a empty route of 100 pax demand. :'(

Hope the new game world starts in next month.

GDK

Left 1 point in my previous reply. Now the available slots are all between 0000 to 0500 hours.

I actually think it's more airlines going bankrupt because of the massive run-up in fuel.

Curse

Only those with 747SP, Concorde and Tu-154M/Il-86/Il-96  ;D

Talentz

Hey... at one point I had 10 747SPs as the workhorse of my fleet... of course they were the first to be replaced...

I've never liked the Sp to be honest, but it was the only thing I could expand with at that time >.<

Curse

First, Talentz, you are not the average AWS player. I think you are one who could manage a fully soviet aircraft airline. ;) and second I doubt this was a time with fuel prices >$500.

Talentz

Hmm true .. I started dropping them when fuel was in the mid 300s. By high 400s they were all gone... I dropped a few routes entirely because I figured it it was cheaper to pay the overstaffed labor rather then paying -300k a week + fleet common then labor.

~ If there was some sort of benefit other then saying " I can do it", I would go all Russian. However, there's really not so it isn't worth the extra work I would have to do to keep the company profitable.

Plus I am to lazy to even try...

I would say that a lot of the initial 3 year leases are beginning to expire now... plenty of good Boeings (757, 737, 767, 777) to choose from and even some Airbuses (320, 300, 310). Only thing is that some are old, but some are also under 1y in age so I guess their bankruptcies.

Why these leases should expire? Extend leases for the win  8)

Well a lot are old planes so I'm sure many people like myself have let go of the 15y+ aircraft after we got the initial start up from them
