Runway Requirement

I am flying out of Laguardia airport, the longest runway is 2134 m, however, I can fly A300-600R a/c which requires 2330 m without a problem. how can this be?

so, runway requirement would be used at its maximum if the range was used at maximum, correct?

Report it in the BUG forum, PM and ask Sami to give you some "honestly" compensation so You will be the only one who benefits from it.

In Eurchallenge 2 I had flights with a Embrear 120 between Guernsey and Jersey and the planes run on nuclear power as I spotted their fuel use was "0". So I contacted Sami and explained the lot... He made sure I paid something for that jetfuel... although it was only $3 per flight. But the bug is fixed....

ok, the problem is I ordered a few 757-300s and their requirement is 2260, while the airport supports 2134 and I have to wait like a year before the aircraft is delivered to me to test if it actually works.
so, I am confused, does flying shorter routes make you use a smaller runway or not?

As far as I am aware, you can fly those larger aircraft (A300, 757 etc) from short runways without payload limits when they are flying short routes where they carry much less fuel than they are capable of flying.

I think the stated runway requirements for aircraft for a fully loaded aircraft, fuel and pax at maximum.

The runway requirement for an aircraft is the amount of runway it needs to fly full plane as far as the range gives (so full pax and full fuel load). However, if you have a shorter route, you don't need to take as much fuel on board, and thus don't require as much runway to take off as with full tank. And with the pax it's the same thing.

So for you, the pax/range limits do exist, but since you fly short routes or not with full pax (ie. have business/1st class), the limits don't apply to you. But, if you created a longer route, you'd see the limitations.

What makes this a bug?

(it's not .. actually it's a feature.    the RWY REQ is with MAX takeoff weight. If your plane flies a shorter distance or has less load it will depart below MTOW and thus does not rq the full runway)

It's actually a really cool feature. Don't worry Sami, some of us appreciate it! 

In short, your 757s will be fine, as long as you don't intend on squeezing max range AND max capacity out of them.
