MTOW

What advantage is there when ordering a new aircraft in going for an option that has a greater MTOW? Since there is no cargo, I don't see what it might be (other than expensive)...

The range increases with MTOW.

MTOW is also directly related to some of the fees, so the lowest MTOW you require is always best

MTOW stands for Maximum Take Off Weight. So that could include pax, but also fuel, which gives you a better range (as Daveos pointed out).
