Question on V1.2: I understand a much awaited feature will be more restrictions on flying to a 3rd city and the development of a 2nd hub.  Does the 2nd hub need to be in the carrier's home/base country?

Alot of debate on this...but to add fuel to the fire..that would be cool, but probably be crap..alot of countries only have 1 airport and there is no room for ryan air in this game! They have 5 million hubs..low 'budget' carriers' full stop.

I think that sami said that it will be just like in real world, you can have base only in your country, but if you are based f.e. in Slovakia, you will be able to have bases in whole EU, but only after 2004.

As long as like Ryanair your airport is 300 miles from its intended city of destination!!

AHahahahahah! :) You right! Anyway, I think that the problem for the 2nd hub of companies based in small countries is a non-problem. Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Singapore Airlines survive as good as carriers with multiple hubs! :)

Curse

Yeah, but this is because of very low competition (in their country) and the excellent service. I'm new to AWS, but can you compete with an full comfort airline against somebody who has cheap seats but lots of them?

lol. that's like Delta. my mom needed to fly from Toronto to Dayton, Ohio for business, and her company has a deal with Delta since it's from the US, like her company (not really hers, she works for the company's Canadian division). The flight she took (the only one available when she wanted to fly) was from Toronto to New York JFK, New York JFK to Atlanta, Atlanta to Cincinnati and Cincinnati to Dayton. Air Canada Jazz even flies there direct, and for cheaper........ ::)

Beware the second hub.

In a full competition world very few airlines make a second hub work.  Excluding airlines like DL, CO and AA.    In Europe, with the exception of LH, with one secondary hub, no other EU full service airline has made a secondary hub work

For example
AZ - MXP
BA - MAN
AF - Secondary hubs are all regional jet, and loss making
IB  - BCN
LX - GVA
BD - MAN

Even with the Low cost carriers, only the very well known low cost carriers have succeeded in growing out of their hub - In Europe only Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz air have succeeded in this regard.  secondary LCC's were never successful in opening second hubs.  Globespan, BmiBaby, Buzz. etc   Even in the US - LCC's like frontier and AirTran have had very mixed results on second hubs - again, only the biggest guys have survived in this regard.

If the 1.2 update comes, will they apply to existing game worlds hence automatically suspending all ongoing flights to a 3rd city or only to upcoming game worlds?

BA has quite a big operation out of Gatwick, as does Virgin Atlantic  :)

In Europe, LCC are important part of market. We really need them in game and allowing more hubs is first step needed to implent them later ;)

they can be implemented, it's just that they can't survive because customers don't have the "cheap is better" mind yet. ;)

samomuransky

I know, that's why I wrote that we have to implent them later ;) Hubs are one of most important things to prepare for it :)
