Hey!

Tommorow an important day for me. After just two years work as a ticketing agent for a travel agency at Prague Airport I have been given a chance to start working as a Turkish Airlines Operations Agent / Ticketing Agent here on Prague Airport. Their office is just fifty meters from us  :)
Well the point is this job requires 5 years at a similar possition in an airline company whilst my own experience is much shorter. But my other qualifications probably catched an eye of Turkish Airlines office Manager (also a head of Star Alliance in Czech republic) and she invited me for a talk to their HQ here in Prague.
Just wanted to ask you to wish me good luck tommorow and probably if anyone has any advice I would like to hear it.

Thx anyone!

Thanks all. The interview was strange but I think I have a chance. Anyone needs any decent info on my mistakes (which I learned after the conversation)? :)

Hey,

thanks for all the confidence. I wish I would share it  :)

Well I spoken with the headmaster which was quite cool. She was very friendly and I think she understood that I am very interested in this job and generaly in working for THY. She asked how much I would like to earn in THY and I explained that I am not searching for a job because of money which is a white lie of a sort. Of course I would expect to get a better pay but I know it is not all about that. THY would invest heavily in me so I am ready to accept even a lower pay with the benefits + the possible career.
The problem was with the chief of marketing which was the second stage. He was friendly as well but he was very sceptic to my person I guess. Especialy when he saw how young I am (22). He explained that the duty would be a shift system between the town office and the airport office where I would be supervising the check-in, boarding and departure, solving any trouble, communicating with the pilot, preparing any serious rerouting, solving overbooking plus all the paper stuff considering the departures. Right now THY has one plane going out and there are two in the main season. This means I would receive almost all the possible training they could give me (several weeks at least in Turkey plus regular flights-in to be additionaly trained every year).
So the age is probably a bit of an issue and also my experience. Even though I work on the airport for almost two years in a travel agency (which is the biggest on the market and they know how much we work their - I mastered more than others in three years) he clearly thought that I am not familiar with the process of working there (I tried to defend myself and without much luck I guess). He also told me I use the wrong system. They use something similar to Gabriel, we use Amadeus - again I defended myself that I also use Gabriel (much less then Amadeus though) and that the systems are very familiar (which he rejected and we had a discussion about because I know they are REALLY the same, there are just slight differences in the commands). I also probably looked a bit like a liar because I stated that I have basic knowledge of turkish language (Which I DO but with the current location (middle Europe) I have no speaking experience - I just know a lot of vocab and grammar) so he started talking to me and I was not able to even respond in a polite matter. I spend several weeks in Turkey and I got used to the Istanbul accent but he spoke really fast and was from a diffrent area than I was used to so I had actually no idea what he told me. Which I am sure looked preatty idiotic. I also study university and work on my english certificates and german language so that means some time requirements and he was worried about that even when I told him I am fully flexible and able to change this to my will...  :-\

Well Yb good luck with the job, Hopefully you get in all though if not you can always learn from your mistakes.
