Another Beginners world?

Is there a need for another Beginners World scenario?

I would restrict it so that it's only available to players who have not played at all, played only in demo, or played only in the previous Beginner scenario - other players would be excluded.

Game world length is approximately 2 months and cost would be 1cr / week and for example 2cr to join it -> 10 Cr for the whole world, as a introductionary price (similar to the discounted price in current Beginner scenario, but this is a bit longer scenario).

As a newb, I liked the scenario Beginner's World.  Some feedback:

I wound up purchasing 20 credits after playing the free sim.  During the free sim I think I went bankrupt twice, and in BW I went out once before finally figuring out how to actually make money and build a viable airline.

I have made many errors during BW and hopefully have learned from them.  I have tried to pay attention to Profit Margin more, provide feedback and voice some opinions in the forums, joined one of the top alliances and been a force there... and done some analysis so that in another game I may do even better.  I learned a lot about what to do and what NOT to do.

Right now I stand at #36 in overall value in BW.  I don't think that's too bad considering the veteran competition.

I did not join the new longer game, as I am looking for a shorter game to actually finish.  I still don't think I am ready for a game like that and be competitive.  Your idea of another beginner world would give me the opportunity to test some of my theories and make a couple more mistakes.  By you eliminating the veteran competition gives me more of an opportunity to play against similar players.

Thanks Sami.

you'll kill off the potential customers by forcing them into a world where only the pros roam.

I think there should be a game-clock-block on the beginners world though. Or, when you say, reach a certain amount of money,
you get a back credit of 50% to keep playing in the "pro world".

One of the most frustrating things in the Beginners World is that there are some too established players there.
The aim of the Beginners World should be to LEARN the game, not RULE it.

Getting the feel, and getting the feel fast is really important. I find that the Beginners world is just as hard as the other world I started playing,
which makes absolutely no sense at all...........

When you're up against a guy who knows how to make fake-hubs, or when there are so many players occupying every corner of the game world with their
mega airliners, it's really no learning to do there. In reality the game has become just as competitive as any other world.
If not worse, because these guys have easy pickings against the idiots like me who go bankrupt after a couple of hours.

The world would be more effective if it was "layered". Say you have 30-50 bigger airports that actually have some demand on the routes, then limit the players pool to 30-100 players. There will be less competition, and it will be easier to get the hang of things. Having two if these worlds would make more sense.

And you could build them in two stages, Beginners World 1 and Beginners World Continued (2).

In 1 you are restricted to Aircraft Commonality, you shouldn't be able to buy more than one type, the game should ofcourse give you the choice to pick your airplane of choice, but limiting it to one model till you turn a profit on the aircraft you have seems to be one of the most important lessons I've learned here on the forums.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who are far more experienced and better qualified than me to "set the rules".

But I think the gameplay should progress in a learning curve of any other modern computer game.

The beginners world 1 could be set to have a really simple goal, "Lease two aircraft of the same make and model, with same engine configuration", "Research Pax demand on your chosen HUB and set schedule flights for your newly started company".

Once people have done the very basics, "the hard and boring way of guidance and gameplay", they'll still learn and remember the physics and rules of the game.

The second part can be more advanced, and as you reach a certain amount of profit, the game ends, you get to the next level.

Not sure this should even cost anything, maybe a few credits to join in, but once you go through the steps, you should be rewarded to play the next level of the learning stages for free.

What you'll have though will be better players, and more competitive and motivated players who understand the game better.

Getting your customer to learn the game FAST and get him hooked is......... as we all know, what all MMORPG game developers strive for, and spend an incredible amount of time on getting right.

just my two cents.
and half of it ain't really my ideas, I just happen to know a MMORPG game developer. ;)

Hi Sam. Thank you for providing a beginner's world. This is my first world outside the demo I played a year ago. I joined #4 only last week basing at Tokyo Narita and I think I'm doing okay, still expanding and ordering 737s whenever possible, doing some domestic and international hauls in Asia. I've learned alot but I've also made mistakes along the way as you can see looking at my earlier choice of fleet and I know I'm going to learn alot more soon :P.

As far as needing another beginner's world, I may join again simply because I dont know what it's like to play the early half of the game portion when everyone starts at the same level and I'm very curious about it. But what if you have the resource to make 2 separate worlds, with similar setups (short duration/whole world) but 1 catered for beginners and the other for more intermediate or harder play. (Honestly, I dont know what makes  #4 beginners world since I have no other world I played heh. Also I think starting out and developing your airline in the early game will be lots of fun, too that a short game provides since you can do it more often.

Perhaps the beginner worlds should have a limit to the number of planes a company can aquire (40 or 50 is big enough for a beginner I think). Or a maximum number of seats a company is allowed to sell each day. This will make it less attractive for established players to enter these gameworlds, allowing newbys to explore the game.
