i would just like to say, boo to this.
i joined airwaysim cause of the one off payment.

a 6 month, realtime,  game will cost approx 15Eur, not a huge amount, but more than i am willing to pay.
maybe doubling the credits received for the current outlay?
e.g. 20 for 5Eur instead of 10.

bit of a shame but i was really enjoying this.

just my 2cents.

thanks.

Sami

please read the news post I made for the reasons behind the change.

jhallam

yep, read it.

will there be any 5 credit games only?
or is the weekly credit option going to be for all games?
if so i fear this will be my last game, i am not into a weekly fee to play a game.

thanks.

10cr was the previous standard, the 5cr beginner world was an exemption. But it all again goes down to feedback received, as this payment change too was based on the requests for longer worlds etc.

Though one thing that I figured would be perhaps to change the initial fee to join the game world from 5cr -> 1cr for example. This would lower the proportional daily cost for shorter games but you as a player would still get the benefits of the new system, by paying only for the time played and having the ability to join in at a later time with the proportional cost still the same as for players joined in at the very start - both which are not possible for the fixed fee per game system...

Sami-

I think one small change to the new payment system will make it more appealing and attractive to your existing clients used to the older system.

In your new payment plan, 5 credits are used to join (for 1 week's play) and then 1 credit each additional week.

I suggest that the initial 5 credits to join remains the same, but the weekly charge kicks in after two weeks then weekly after that.

Cheers

jhallam

potentially.

anyway, weekly fees are not for me.

Maybe the initial 5 credits should include first 5 weeks of playing, instead of just first 1 week of playing in the current charging scheme, so that it would sound fairer.

If we pay per week + one fee, I'm for unlimited bankruptcies!

But all the way, it prices stay at current level, MT will be my last game :(

The thing is still that the price range to use AWS will be around the 0.1eur/usd range per day which is the value we have been targeting and advertising from the very start. That will not change.

However minor adjustments to the system may be made. Actually today I came to think that the credit prices may need adjustments as due to the high usd / eur currency conversion ratio it's getting expensive to customers paying in dollars, but those are then "management decisions" which are not made on this forum.  ;)

jhallam

how feesible would this be?

5 credits to join, and play for 3 months(RT).
as you stated this was the original way.
then if you want to play on for longer, it will be either another 5 credits or the weekly fee?

not too sure how easy that would be to implement/monitor?

No, it hasn't been like that. The Beginners world was a 1,5 month world and was offered at half price as an introductionary special for new users (I believe the reduced price was mentioned in the game world description too), and also because it was shorter than other worlds running at that time. The previous standard has been 10 Cr for a 2-3 month world.

The weekly credit system will be here to stay as it's more fair to the players too as you actually pay for the time spent in the game world and can join in also at later time with basically the same cost as players who have joined in earlier (I mean compared to the play time you get for the money).

This observation is a bit off the cuff and only slightly related to this issue:

Why would someone want to join a game well in progress?  Is there a way to see which airports are already taken before joining a game?

I think that if I saw a game that was say 45% complete and could see an opportunity to establish myself at a good location it may be worth it.  But what happens if I join blind at the same mark and can't really find a viable airport to base my airline?

I'm not saying it's expensive. But it's getting to that level when I'm not sure if I have to use that money to buy credits or keep it and use it for tickets..
