Whats your Favorite Asian Airline

There are several Asian airlines not mentioned here, but i think i have covered the major ones, Please add any comments regarding an airline you like and have flown that is not on the list.

As for me, Singapore Airlines is the best and has always set the benchmark. Number two for me, would have to be Asiana of Korea. I flew with them this year from Narita to Paris via Seoul in their business class, and i must say that they realy do deserve their award for "Airline of the year" from skytrax.

Eventualy i want to get around to trying Cathay Pacific, but i am a Star Alliance member, and fly with them, whereever possible.

Any way two votes each please, one vote for your favorite and another for your second choice. I figured that way the poll might show a better average.

Cheers,

NicholasB

PS. Someone should now op[en a poll for the American carriers..

You're forgetting a lot of Middle East airlines!
I guess I shall put up a poll for that. -_-

NicholasB

Good Idea, Sorry about that, my error but i just figured they would come under a seperate heading for the Middle East. Ill definelty vote on that one too!

It was a hard choice between Singapore and Cathay, but I went with Cathay because they're part of oneworld.

Cathay Pacific. Singapore Airlines's fares are simply too high and ALL discount economy fares dont earn miles. Next is Dragonair cuz their part of CX. ;D

basically, i like every oneworld airline.

I have had some not-so-pleasant experiences with Cathay Pacific.  Maybe because I'm in the economy section.

It seems that I always have unpleasant situations with Oneworld, probably because I have senator miles card with Lufthansa and no card at all with them! I once travelled with Cathay Pacific and I really didn't have a good experience.

From then on, I love Singapore Airlines! It is fantastic! I also managed to get on the A380 after a month that it had been launched! The service is eccellent, the seat is fantastic, the entertainment is eccellent and it flies directly from Milan, what else! I fly in Business Class and sometimes First Class in intercontinentals so I don't know about it's neconomy class.

Well, cabin crew and the hardware of aircraft do play important role in my trip, however the passengers who sit next to you will determine if you can have a good trip or not.

Once I flew from Sydney to Shanghai in business class but there was a big guy sitting next to me and snoring all the time!!!

As normally you can't decide who sit next you and it is simply not possible to have a private room in first class like the Emirates's A380, anyone has a solution regarding to this?

Earplugs.  Good ones.  The squooshy kind that fits into the ears.  I-pod works well, too.  Music or movies that drown out the sound, and immerse you into a world away from everything else.

Other than that, well--...  Nope.  Not much you can do.

(I've learnt to sleep leaning forward.  I used to lean back to sleep, and the last time I did, my snoring was heard all the way back in row 32 (I was in row 4).  Now I sleep forward, and no more snoring.)

Singapore Airlines is definitely my fave on this one, with Cathay Pacific at close second. But, as an Indonesian, have to vote for Garuda Indonesia :D In terms of In flight entertainment, Garuda's lacking behind other Asia's major airlines. But their on board service is on par. They serves you hot meal and choice of drinks on any flight longer than one hour. I Wish that AA or Delta would do the same :P

Yeah, I guess I'm being a little bias here. :P  But that blacklist applied to the whole airlines in Indonesia, not just Garuda, which was caused by all of those budget airlines who don't even care to properly maintain their airplanes >:( I guess Garuda is the only one in Indonesia with international qualification maintenance facility center. Even foreign airlines such as KLM or JAL use their service. For domestic flight, my family always choose Garuda or Mandala (this is also considered good as they operates a batch of young A320 planes). Lion Air operates brand new 737-900ERs, in fact they're the launch customer, but their maintenace record is dubious. And the rest of the other domestic airlines basically are just like flying coffin....

I have to put this in cos they deserve a mention. Malaysia Airlines with legroom fit for a king! Although I am not that tall I appreciate it nonetheless. Flew on their B734s (old but still comfortable) and A333s (you can put your duck, chicken, goat in the space infront of you and still have space!). FAs are attentive and spontaneous. Food is served in nice boxes and satisfying enough. Can't wait for my next ride on their B772... it's a 2-5-2 config and gawd knows I hate sitting in a row of 3 in a widebody... thank goodness for online check-in I will grab the 2 seater for me and my loved one!

I don't think much of Singapore Airlines (my own flag carrier) but I must say their regional subsidiary, SilkAir (MI), is a lot better (not because I used to work for them *lol*). Operating only A319s & A320s, they are lovely to fly with. Loved the onboard screen tvs (non PTV) showing Just For Laugh or some circus show where no audio is needed. Prefer to fly them to SQ and thankfully they have an extensive route network to some of the best holiday destinations in Southeast Asia!

Not to rain on your parade ;D, but Air China (<- nearly a third world carrier ) has 34" legroom (equiv. to MH) and even better width (18"). I'm flying with them in August~

ICEcoldair881

LUCKY BAST***!!!! I never get booked on the good airlines...it's always sh**ty Air Canada! 34 hours late here, 2.3" legroom there, bickering FAs EVERYWHERE!!! Jesus, Dad, you could at least TRY a connecting flight with a GOOD airline. I did go on Southwest to Florida once...Mmmmmm, leather seats and funny FAs.....I loved it!

That's cool! Although China is nowhere near a 3rd world country by economic status in my opinion. Which aircraft will you be flying on? Do share the inflight experience if you could :)

It's going to be the A330-200 (*recalls Air France 447 :'() and A321-200. At least there's a 8.4" PTV :P (A330 only) instead of overheads. I'm going to be using Beijing's Terminal 3 ;D
