Hangar Size

In an attempt to find an alternative to the non transparent fleet commonality penalty:

Require an airline to set up a "hangar" for each fleet type and base it operates from.

Hangars will have sizes, eg:
- Hangar for up to 10 Aircraft: Small $1m/month , Medium $3m/month, Large $5m/month, Very Large $8m/month
- Hangar for up to XX Aircraft .. and so on.

This way, the developers can attach prices (exponentially, if it helps the game mechanics) but keep the process transparent.
Fleet commonality can stay but considered realistic while we get an added menu: "Hangars"

This also adds more realism as many airports are space constrained so adding hangars can get costlier the more one wishes to set up.

Cheers!
Mike

Edit: The out of base limit could also be replaced by hangar space limits for more realism. Hangar limits/prices could also be used to tweak game world difficulty levels.

cool idea, and it would be a nice potential tie-in to the reliability/delay metrics already implemented.

IRL, an airline can significantly cut the length of its average maintenance delays when it maintains a hangar and spare-parts stores/warehousing at a hub airport.

Very good idea, you could tie it up with how slot price works, that as more are utilized and infrastructure is not upgraded, the hangar space gets limited and costlier. if you have 10 787s, 5 350s and 5 777s, they are all very large and need 1 hangar for 20 (you could make it for 18 as that is one year worth of C checks on very large aircraft), that way regardless of the amount of types, the cost is the amount of aircraft.

I agree commonality cost should remain and even increase with more fleets (as realistically they do), but in a more linear and real manner.

1000% behind this great request.  Pleeeeeeeze Sami, after years of requests from many long-term customers of yours - an end to the hopelessly un-real fleet commonality penalty system !
