Despite having begun operations just six months prior, Royal Nigerian has announced intentions to move up a planned 1956 fleet modernization to improve profitability and passenger comfort. We had procured three DC-2 and one DC-3 aircraft from US military surplus because they were low cost and readily available to begin our largely local operation. However with time to crunch the numbers and look over several months of data, we've determined the fuel savings from switching to newer aircraft early will more than offset the significant increase in leasing costs that comes with brand new planes.

Towards that end we are pleased to announce that in just three months we will begin showing our Commonwealth patriotism with an order for brand new DeHavilland DH.114 Heron aircraft to rapidly replace our entire fleet. These Herons will introduce luxurious seating with ample room and superior comfort for our passengers compared to the ex-military benches of our present fleet. With this seating upgrade alongside modern engines with a 70% better fuel economy we will achieve the standards expected from a proper airline instead of a colonial backwater.

We continue to sit on a large reserve of capital for future investments. This not only facilitates our early exit from our existing aircraft leases but opens up the possibility of future expansion. The Heron has a significant range advantage over the DC-2/3 and we are already considering new destinations further afield in both British and French territory.

I've done this before in the very distant past which is why I have a logo but back then it was with a swarm of EMB-120s in a much shorter more modern scenario. One day I suddenly had the money to get L-1011s and MD-80s and near the end I was in a big alliance. That was my first success. I followed it up by surviving a DoTM scenario as an all-Soviet before it was cool and started the original Red Star Alliance for less serious folks. Then I believe I had an even bigger swarm of EMB-120s in French Polynesia. Basically my philosophy back in like 2012 was to do everything they said not to do. Never base in Africa, check. Don't ever fly Soviet planes, check. Small planes never work, check. I'm happy the Soviet planes and small turboprops are somewhat popular these days but I can't help but notice multiple viable African nations are neglected again. I guess with the advent of extremely long scenarios nobody has the patience to perhaps be a ten plane operation for twenty or thirty years before lesser nations develop. As for me, I have a fatal tendency to be hyper-focused on this game for a couple of weeks then forget about it long enough for things to get too bad to recover from. So I've had the idea to create small but stable survivors. We'll see if the elites bully me or not.
