✈️ Nordavind Takes Off: A New Regional Airline Connects Norway and Beyond

Oslo, Norway – February 9, 2007

A fresh wind is blowing through Norwegian skies. Nordavind, a new regional airline based at Oslo Gardermoen Airport, officially commenced operations this week, offering an ambitious network of domestic and international routes served by a fleet of Saab 2000 (SB20) and Saab 340 (SF34) aircraft.

With its slogan, "Where the North Takes Flight," Nordavind promises reliable, high-frequency service to both major cities and underserved regional airports across Norway — and now, abroad.

"Nordavind was created to bridge the distances of our country — from the coastline of Florø to the Arctic airfields of Svolvær," said route director Håkon Størvik. "We're proud to offer Norwegians more choices, better schedules, and a uniquely northern identity."

🛫 Comprehensive Route Network

Operating over 30 daily departures from Oslo, Nordavind's schedule reflects both business demand and community needs:

To Bergen (BGO): 6+ daily flights with Saab 2000

To Bodø (BOO), Tromsø (TOS), Trondheim (TRD), Ålesund (AES), Molde (MOL), Haugesund (HAU), Stavanger (SVG), Kristiansand (KRS): Multiple daily services

To remote northern airports like Stokmarknes, Svolvær, Evenes, and Leknes

To Europe: Copenhagen (CPH), Stockholm (ARN), Helsinki (HEL), Tampere (TMP), and Manchester (MAN) – served with both early and late departures, ideal for business travelers and connecting passengers

The use of both SB20 and SF34 allows Nordavind to tailor capacity to route demand, with the faster Saab 2000 operating trunk and northern routes, and the agile Saab 340 connecting smaller destinations with short runways.

🇳🇴 Proudly Norwegian

Nordavind's branding blends tradition with clarity: aircraft in white, red, and navy blue livery inspired by the Norwegian flag; crew uniforms styled for both function and identity; and marketing that reflects the strength, independence, and beauty of the north.

Inside, passengers are greeted by warm cabin crews, carefully scheduled flights, and punctual service — all designed to ensure a smooth journey across fjords, mountains, and borders.

📍 Headquartered at OSL

From its hub at Oslo Gardermoen (ENGM), Nordavind will serve as a bridge between the capital and the rest of the country — ensuring that no region is left behind.

As regional aviation in Europe consolidates, Nordavind steps in with a strong local presence and a promise to grow with Norway.

"This is just the beginning," says CEO Ingrid Berg. "We plan to expand steadily, based on community needs — and always with the North in our hearts."
