Pakistan Indus Airways welcomes its 100th aircraft

KARACHI - Pakistan Indus Airways is celebrating the arrival of its 100th aircraft. The aircraft, a Vickers Viscount 700D which arrived in June this year, is leased from KLMA Royal Antillean Airlines. The Viscount with construction number 1348 and registration number AP-VEB is operating regional flights to eight different countries. This year, the airline celebrated its fifth operational year on the Pakistan's Independence Day. The aircraft is painted in a special livery featuring the numbers 5 (operational years of PIA), 14 (age of independent Pakistan) and 100 (number of operational aircraft in the fleet).

In addition to the 100 operational aircraft, Pakistan Indus Airways also owns:
* 1 Airspeed AS.57 Ambassador (second aircraft build, leased to Fly Battuta)
* 2 Bristol Type 170 Mk 1 Wayfarer (one leased to Oh Worldwide Air Lines, one available for lease)
* 10 Handley Page Herald Mk.100 (two leased to Ruskin Aviation, eight leased to Matterhorn Mountair)
* 1 Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer Srs.3 (third aircraft build and only Srs.3 variant)
* 1 Vickers VC.1 Viking 1B (preserved at Pakistan Aviation Museum in Karachi)
* 1 Vickers VC.1 Viking 1B Freighter (available for leasing)
* 1 Vickers Viscount 700 (leased to AirAway)
* 1 de Havilland DH.104 Dove (first production aircraft, leased to Oh Worldwide Air Lines)
* 1 de Havilland DH.106 Comet 1 (first production aircraft, available for leasing)
* 1 de Havilland DH.86 Express (preserved at Pakistan Aviation Museum in Karachi)
