Pakistan Indus Airways to replace its Bristol and Vickers fleet

KARACHI - Pakistan Indus Airways is busy replacing its older fleet of Bristol Type 170 and Vickers Vicking fleets. The airline was launched in August 1950 with the addition of Bristol Type 170 Wayfarer aircraft. The Vickers Viking fleet was added after the launch of the Islamabad base. While the Vickers Viking fleet is already been put aside, the Pakistani airline is busy replacing its Bristol Type 170 Wayfarer fleet. The replacement aircraft will be the Vickers Viscount 700D, the first commercial turboprop aircraft.

Bristol Aircraft however will still provide aircraft to Pakistan Indus Airways. The aircraft manufacturer has already delivered seven Bristol Type 175 Britannia Series 102 aircraft and will deliver further fourteen of the type. Besides Bristol and Vickers, de Havilland is de third manufacturer that delivers aircraft to the Pakistani airline, first via used de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide aircraft and currently with brand new de Havilland DH.114 Heron aircraft.
