Frequent flyer program

Hi everyone,

I noticed a thread that mentioned a program briefly, but not much discussion was about it.

Is it possible to make a FF program that ties into company image and load factors?  Of course, it would be a certain expense that could (hopefully) be set by the individual airlines as to what the exact perks, benefits, discounts, and requirements are for their own program.

On a side note, this whole simulator is awesome.  I am very impressed with how in depth it is.

Thank you,
Seth

I was also thinking about the ability to change the dynamics of an alliance--meaning the ability to change specific offerings and services of the alliance.  Some airlines allow you to earn frequent flyer miles on other airlines and some share facilities like lounges.

Thanks,
Seth

maybe a specific setup in the alliance could offer the option to gather FF miles, discounts on hotels, cars or special lounge facilities or other things for the alliance members. The cost to join would rise but also the potential economical return ==> LF. Would be in practice an extra option to offer within the alliance and a show off for all the members.

I like the idea of the launge. There could be an option under routes called "Lounges".

Any ailrine would be allowed to build a lounge where they want. This launge would have a cost, but the passenger numbers in Business and First Class travelling from launge to launge/no launge with you would increase. Also, you should set a level of quality for the launge from 1 to 5. 1 being very bad, 5 being very good.

An airline of your alliance could join your launge too and the costs and benefits would be shared. Also, an airline that is not in your alliance might want to join your launge so he would pay a "launge lees fee" to allow his passengers in your launge.

What do you think.

I think this would be a nice addition to the game. It would in effect be a way to spend more money on marketing, but with slightly more strategy and planning than just launching marketing campaigns. You could build lavish lounges at your hub and important focus cities, and maybe just rent lounge access for your premium class passengers at other cities. As noted, this could be a way to increase alliance funtionality with shared lounges.

yes Konti, at the present money coming from alliance fees simply end in smoke  :( but it was nice to have advanced alliance managing tools by setting up lounges in strategic airports (coding total alliance passangers throught airport ==> boosting route image) or alliance marketing campaigns or quality certifications to buy out for the members. Marketing is today indispensable for selling

yeah alliances should be able to market their brand in ways they want, e.g. in this case lounges. But then you don't see many Star Alliance/SkyTeam/oneworld ads anywhere. Just search Youtube, none....except for some homemade ones.

But that's just the point! Marketing does not equal advertising, but currently in the game there is not much else you can do.

The alliances are still heavily integrated and most of them let passengers use each other's facilities or other perks/frequent flyer programs.

yes, I mean it is a wonderful idea to have a FF program integrated into the game, though it is more from the passangers perspective and not from the airline. How would you see it again?

It would build customer loyalty and improve company image and also the travellers are more likely to spend money on their preferred airline, and it helps word of mouth advertising.

If you really want to go all out, airlines could individually set up specific miles conversions with other airlines.  Not all alliances have a 1 mile/1 mile conversion between carriers.  Some are 50% etc.

Company credit cards could also provide another avenue for income, although airlines need to make sure they're not giving out to much credit to high risk customers.

Lounges could work like this:
There should be only some capacity for lounges (depends on airport), because it's not very real to have 150 lounges on Heathrow (what will happen if it will be unlimited). You can build lounge and set who will have access for free (f.e. FFP members, bussines and first passengers) and who have to pay for it (and how much). There should be also equipment selection (more things will cost more, but give you better LF and more paying people will go there). You can sale it, rent it or allow access for other airlines customers. For example, if Heathrow will be full of lounges, another airline can pay you for allowing free access of their FFP members etc. Of course, if you have better equipment, airline will pay you more :)

Of course, lounge have just some capacity. You can make it bigger, but you must pay more and of course, there must be enough space.

I agree with Samo, if an airline is in an alliance, and deside to build a lounge at an airport, thhere should be like tick box's for exaple; ([] is a tick box)

There should probably be a check box for all of your alliance members to make it easier.
