Is Fleet Commonality turned off in Beginners worlds?

The top airline in my game world i would think would be sunk from the number of fleet types that he is operating.

I added my 3rd fleet type and had 0 increase in fleet commonality costs for the other fleet types, but when i added a 3rd fleet type earlier with less than 100 aircraft it near doubled, im not sure what to think about it...... it makes me wonder if i should order 10-12 fleet types for rapid expansion like the #1 airline.

Don't know how BW are set up, but yes, in regular GWs there's a penalty from 2 to 3 fleets when you're under ~ 80 aircraft. Once you grow enough, it disappears, and gets replaced by the classic 3 to 4 fleets.

I can't see into the world, but is he actually flying all the types listed? Look at column "in use" in his "aircraft fleet" page. It could be that he/she has a lot on order, or leased out, or in storage etc. None of these count towards commonality.

I can't speak for the beginners world, but in the real worlds then commonality over 100 aircraft and 3 fleets really starts to bite! So its good discipline even in BW to keep to 3, or better, 2 fleets. That leaves 1 unused fleet for fleet change time, eg 727 -> A320 etc

I know what you mean, he is, but the population is so low that it's basica free reign for expansion onto uncontested routes.

thats one of Samis special features: lure the people into investing in many fleet types, that way beginners dont get the gist of the game and get frustrated quickly in the gameworlds ;)

The settings are exactly identical in all game worlds.

Beginner scenarios have overall an easier economic environment. Meaning cheaper fuel, relatively high demand (compared to player capacity) and so forth.

Just on this topic, does anyone know if the fleet penalty kicks in as soon as the first plane of the 4th fleet type is ordered or only when it is delivered?

I've tried searching for an answer but haven't come across it being discussed.

Fleet commonality is only affected by scheduled planes.

You could have a dozen types overall in your fleet including stuff on the tarmac, in storage, being leased out etc, but only the types scheduled in service by your airline count towards it.

which saves people playing the brokering game. I can have 10-12 apparent fleet types, but I'm nearly never flying more than 2-3. Others are in my roster just because I'm outleasing them, or am trying to sell them.
