a new alternative to bankruptcy, "retiring"

it's a shame that when we've built a large successful airline, that the only way to close it down, even in rude health, is by declaring bankruptcy, which has negative connotations.

I'd like to ask that we have other ways of closing a company, than bankruptcy. The effect would be the same, just different wording when we close by choice and not declared bankrupt by the bank.

I'd like to suggest players would be able to choose from
"retiring"
"pursuing new business interests"
"taken up golf"
"restarting in new location"
perhaps even free form text...

I like this, it'd also be nice to sell your current airline and retire..

Perhaps even a "soft restart" where all current aircraft are sold to robobrokers at fair market value, all bases and HQ are closed and you can restart with currently built up assets for those of us who are simply bored.

There is already a plan that AI would take over the airline for a few real-time weeks and players could then bid to be the CEO for that airline. You could then even try to salvage an airline in bad financial state etc. And also that the CEO wealth carries over to the new airline (though what to do then if your airline is -500mil and you lost your initial investment too and are broke? :P)

Planning features related to this thread so now it's a good chance to comment.

selling your airline would be a very fun idea! So stick to the idea 1 airline 1 userid 1 user per game, so no setting up multiple airlines per player. But if a player wanted to quit, they should be able to auction their airline for credits. So if it goes for, say 20 credits, 10 go to the selling player and 10 to the admin. Buyer then has 24 game months to merge the bought airline into his/her own airline. Realistically this means aircraft, slots.routes, loans, cash and ac orders. And if the bought airline sits outside the geographic area the buying airline can operate then the routes will die after 24 game months. Just an idea. Coding would be horrendous!
