Add classes of service "check box" for flights

To increase flexibility for aircraft in fleet suggest to add a checkbox to "edit/create route page" as follows:

[] 3-Class Service        [] 2-Class Service      [] Economy only

So if an aircraft is configured with a more classes than needed on a route, the higher class seats get added to the next lower class for capacity.

eg. Aircraft in 5C/99Y configuration would fly as 104Y if needed. Until now, the excess class seats have been going to waste. In real life airlines
overbook flights taking into account available capacity up front to compensate through upgrading of high tier/frequent flyer passengers.

Thanks!

Yes!

This seems to be the perfect solution to this problem.

A new idea, which I believe hasn't been posted here yet after a quick search.

My theory can be explained most easily with an example: I'll take one of my own routes: EHAM-EDDB. Amsterdam Schiphol to Berlin Schönefeld. I do not have competition on this flight at the moment (would be nice if it stayed like that for a while  :P) and I fly it daily with a Boeing 737-800. The daily demand is 200 pax per day, but I only use 159 with my flight. All my 738s are configured with 15 C seats and 144 Y seats, as I'm too lazy to configure all of them in their optimal configuration per route. The  business demand on my route to Berlin however is only 5/day. It would be a nice option, to sell your unoccupied C seats as Y seats, against Y seat pricing, so Y class passengers will book them. With this I can still fully fill my aircraft, and for this route it would give me an extra 10 sold seats a day. The same with F seats. If no F demand, sell the seats against C pricing, if no C demand, sell against Y pricing. Could bring you a decent extra profit, as it doesn't cost you anyting extra.

This method is used IRL by many airlines, and seems to be a good addition to AWS. I have however no idea whether it's easy to program or not.

Thanks for looking at it!

Would like it even better if you can select how many seats per class you can put up for sale.
And it would be even better if the system could do this for you automatically...  ;D

yes, just like an upgrade at the gate when they overbook the flight and one gets to be seated in biz instead of eco.

To analyze the sales and put extra pax in superior classes to adapt precisely to the demand would probably hard to program (say, there is 5 C demand but you only sell 4, the 5th would probably be lost due to being too complicated).

But in the absolute lack of demand in a said class, move all seats to the class below should be easy. At least manually.

Another way, to make it automatic would be to allocate pax in following sequence:

1. Allocate F pax to F seats at F prices
2. Allocate F pax to C seats at C prices (if any F pax left)
3. Allocate F pax to Y seats at Y prices (if any F pax left)
7. Allocate C pax to F seats at C prices (if any F seats left)
4. Allocate C pax to C seats at C prices
5. Allocate C pax to Y seats at Y prices (if any C pax left)
6. Allocate Y pax to F seats at Y prices (if any F seats left)
7. Allocate Y pax to C seats at Y prices (if any C seats left)
6. Allocate Y pax to Y seats at Y prices

This way, no seats will be blocked off by system, no pax will be left off the flights for "lack of seats" while there are empty seats.  And no extra work by the player would be required.
