City Based Demand: How long to turn potential demand to actual demand?

Question 1: If I run a route with very large potential demand and no competition how long until that turns to actual demand? And on routes like New York to Los Angles where there are many airports where an airline could try and fill that demand how will I know what other airlines are trying to fill that demand if they are'nt based at my airport? Unless there are new tools that are going to be offered that capture that information easily its going to end up with alot of bankrupt airlines and frustrated players.

Question 2: I ran a cargo only route that would make $330,000 a day if I captured all the potential demand, I ran the route for a month and never got above 5% of potential demand. The route continued to hemorrhage money and I was forced to park the aircraft. What is the expectation/intention for city based demand? If an airline cant capture market share relatively quickly on a uncontested route how is an airline supposed to grow? Whats the point of adding cargo if an airline cant run cargo only routes profitably even with huge potential demand?

0. Better post in the cargo gameworld gametalk forum instead as the system is still not completed and is currently exclusive to that gameworld
1. From my experience it seems like it would need at least a few years to turn them into actual demand. As for other airlines trying to fill the demand, there are several ways to do it for now, but all are a bit cumbersome due to the unpolished interface, a.) draw a 200km circle from LAX and then 200km from JFK, list all airports within diamter and then check all route pairs one by one, b.) Check all the airlines flying dedicated freighter of large or above size and then take a look at all the route they have flown their freighter on, if the focus is just heavy cargo
New way to cehck have been suggested, but the game's administrator is still collecting opinion about what type of visualization would be needed to display such information. You can head to the game talk forum for the cargo gameworld and express your opinion about what type of info shall be displayed within the interface.
2. The system is still currently under public testing so it cannot be said that all the designs within the current gameworld would be reflective of the intention of the designer of the game.

For high demand routes the growth rate seems to be too small, that will be adjusted. For the interface, please see this thread: https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,72627.0.html
