Longhauls scheduling problems
« on: May 15, 2015, 09:45:55 PM »
I am starting to cover some long distance lane from Malpensa, but i think i'n not really setting it up correctly.
I have some longhaul routes lasting 28 hours that i'm covering with two different A340. One for day 1-3-5 the second for day 2-4-7.
The problem is that in the spare time, also due to the long turnaround time of A340 there is no route that those planes can cover. On alternate days I have, taking off at 5am 13 hours more or less. takng out twice 150 mins, for turnaround it means that I should cover lanes with a340 around 1500NM that usually are not suitable for an a340 due to poor demand, ususally not more than 130 pax.
On the other side let the plan unscheduled for all those hours is a pity.
What should i do?

Most players use 7 Day Schedules to overcome this issue.
Do a search on '7 Day Schedules'
Basically using 7 planes to cover the 7 days and multiple routes while keeping individual plane utilization high

Wow, that seems definitely the solution.
wow, this means to reschedule all flights, keep the airplane down for a while and spend a lot of money buying new slots.
Will consider it as a long term investment.
Thanks for the suggest.

For flights up to 25/26 hours, you can cheat a little bit & have you plane make 6 flights a week at 6 different times. Beyond, the 7-days 7-planes schedule is rather unavoidable.

Thanks for the advice. Spent some hours and reschedule 70% of my longhaul routes with seven days method. It seems working perfectly, not i'm gonna make the third group and after that I will be ok for a while. As soon as these three groups will gain expected money, I will try to go regional on a third EU base. Just to make experience and be ready for the next upcoming world.
