Earliest Possible Departure (including turn-around time from previous flight)

LotusAirways

Hi,
Some guidance please.

If I set-up the default turn-around time on Dashboard - Settings - Aircraft settings, the turn-around time is used for turn-around on the routes, but NOT used for calculating the Earliest Possible Departure.

Is there anyway around this?
Thanks.

LotusAirways

 :) Thanks Sanabas.

One other thing, should one also give a margin of error for airport closing hours? In other words, say my plane arrives at 22:55 and the airport closes at 23:00.
My understanding is that if the flight is 10 minutes late at the departure airport then it has to be cancelled. Am I correct? If yes, then what is the margin of error you usually use?

Sami

No, it can always land. (also in real life, if the flight is scheduled and has a minor delay it can land or depart)

LotusAirways

Thank you.

By the way, GREAT game Sami! Addictive. Realistic. Educative. Great for the long and cold winters :)
Where can I leave suggestions for improvements / future versions?

Kadachiman

Lotus Airways......you are asking questions in 3+ threads that have already been covered.
You could save yourself a lot of time and angst with the game if you take the time to read a lot of threads here.

I know that it seems like a waste of time investing many hours into reading ( I too like to jump right into a game) but the reality is that you will actually save a lot of time and hassle for yourself as you will pick up a lot of tips of how not to b/k, how to schedule, best planes to use, planes to avoid, etc etc.

I hope you enjoy the sim...as many of us here already do.

PS - also by reading first, you will not 'wear out your welcome' so to speak with players starting to ignore your quetions

To leave suggestions for improvements .... scroll down the Forum page to near the bottom.
There is a thread in there titled "Feature Requests'... again though...please read the threads to see if your improvements have not already been requested.
Another reason for reading first is so that you don't tie up Sami's time with him needing to respond to requests that have already been asked, so that he can keep developing and improving this sim.

I would first try to manage all things already possible with a game before asking for "improvements", like you shouldn´t do that in RL during your first time at a new job.
It´s just common nice behaviour.

Thanks Kadachiman,
For the info and for the remark. I did check the forum but it is very difficult to find the information. Maybe I am not doing "search" using the correct terminology. But it is not laziness.

Perhaps the Manual FAQ section should be open to all players participation --under the approval/control of the Administrator-- similar to what Google does,  encouraging their customers to participate on the FAQ sections, for free.

Here are the 5 questions I asked so far that are not tackled or are incomplete on the Manual:

- There are zero planes for lease/sale, but many under "Sale & Storage" on Aircraft - Global Statistics. Why?
- Should one also give a margin of error for airport closing hours? In other words, say my plane arrives at 22:55 and the airport closes at 23:00.
- If I set-up the default turn-around time on Dashboard - Settings - Aircraft settings, the turn-around time is used for turn-around on the routes, but NOT used for calculating the Earliest Possible Departure. Is there an auto set-up?
- Say I have leased an airplane for 10 years but after 5 I don't need it any longer. How to cancel a lease contract?
- Where can I leave suggestions for improvements / future versions?

Hi Exchlbg,
In real life, in real companies, the newcomers (both employees and customers) are the source of the best ideas for improvement. After a few short months all looks "normal" and there are few fresh ideas. Unless you work for a government  :)

Thanks.

- There are zero planes for lease/sale, but many under "Sale & Storage" on Aircraft - Global Statistics. Why?
The planes are with Brokers and are released now and then, not all at once...the time frame for release is not know by players otherwise they would sit and wait like vultures :-)
So it is a bit of smoke & mirrors mathematics by Sami

- Should one also give a margin of error for airport closing hours? In other words, say my plane arrives at 22:55 and the airport closes at 23:00.
No allowance needed if the plane leaves late it still arrives on time, I assume it would be way to hard for Sami to factor in individual delays into every players routes...as per real airlines they tend to make up the 5 minute leaving delays in the air

- If I set-up the default turn-around time on Dashboard - Settings - Aircraft settings, the turn-around time is used for turn-around on the routes, but NOT used for calculating the Earliest Possible Departure. Is there an auto set-up?
No auto set-up you have to do the calculations yourself. I use an excel spread sheet which I assume most players have their own...I can send you a copy via PM if you want.
PS - do not use the default delay times for individual aircraft types as it tends to be based on a 25% chance of delay...much better to go for <10% delay, personally I try to use the 1% delay times

- Say I have leased an airplane for 10 years but after 5 I don't need it any longer. How to cancel a lease contract?
You can cancel a lease on the actual aircraft page for that particular plane, however it is not always advisable as you pay the cost of teh aircraft + 50% of the remaining lease contract value....very expensive with 5 years remaining.
PS - it is not advisable to lease a plane past its D check

- Where can I leave suggestions for improvements / future versions?
That one I answered for you, but as another poster has said, it would be best to play the game first, get used to it, use the game features and then make suggestions

This community is all but resigned in old habits, try getting through all entries in that specific forum. Since we are no marketing or software evaluation team of fresh-out-of-college hipsters, rules of decent behaviour nonetheless apply, there is no need of instant brainstorming. Every new idea backed up by knowledge and good arguments is always welcome though.

A few ground rules:

1. Don't complain about the lack of used aircraft.
2. Don't complain about the lack of slots.
3. Don't ask sami to make an app.
