16x16 pixel logo of letters XL in blue color ... I can make that in 1 minute.

It's quite clearly just the logo from that website resized. You can even see the .com part on the blue L if you look closely.

So we can use somes old name of short lived company such as
For Belgium

  • VG Airlines,
  • Constellation,
  • Brussels Intl Airlines,
  • CityBird,
  • Birdy Airlines
For France

  • FlyEco
  • Air Bourbon
  • Air Turquoise
  • Aeris

???

Just a general remark with regard to Silverjet: Names are protected way beyond insolvency, as their registration was paid once and can be prolonged later. When a company goes into bankruptcy proceedings and is liquidated, the Inc. remains in the registry as well as the asset (to which a name would be counted). Please don't get me wrong, I personally do not see it as a big problem that anybody would mind about, but from the legal standpoint, sami is running a business and hence acts as a business man with all obligations and consequences, so let's make it easy and just get your creativity a little up. Your planes will not make more money because you are using a name that comes close to one in real life.

i agree - if its protected - then the real names in game should be disallowed - because its would land in hot water - best is enforce it to stop real names appearing - only old airlines names that wiped off from protected list can be used

There is no way telling if a defunct airline is still a trademark or not.. Or?  But still it is each user's responsibility to pick a name that is not property of someone else, and that is stated at the page where you create the airline.

The hansa is clearly against the rules. A notification is sent but I am still graful and allowing 2 days time to respond. But I am shortly starting to close these right away if they are this clear. As you simply cannot miss the text.

DenisG

One could enquire at the trademark offices. I think there is a digital one already for the US and the EU. But I am not sure if one can apply these cost free.

I think for your purpose, the easiest way is to warn the concerned players several times as soon as you take knowledge of the potential violation and offer them to rebrand. If they do not co-operate within, say, 7 days, you could put their accounts on hold with the info that they are required to contact the admin when they login. If they do not contact you, you just close the airline, but leave the account. You should be able to see the logins in the logs, so you can tell when somebody is aware of it and not. As long as you have 2-3 cases per week, the work load should be manageable.

Just an idea.

3 on BW.

1st: Astra Jet. Anyone who lives in Greece knows that there is an Astra Airlines. (it's close enough, right?)

2nd: Czech Airways. Come on. Airlines to Airways? little more creativity....please?!?! Based out of Prague too.

3rd: GoJet. THIS STUPID AIRLINE PUSHED ALOHA OUT OF HAWAII!!! (sorry sami for yelling, but I liked Aloha and GoJet took that airline to...heaven?)

links to airlines in RL, followed by the aws BW airline. In that order.

I just found this one, don't know if it counts though. S9 Airlines in DME (BW). A bit close to S7 Airlines, don't you think?

Also another close one, Air Shanghai in SHA (BW). name kinda resembles "Shanghai Airlines".

Also, another airline, Air Arabia in RUH (BW). name is exactly the same as the real one.

Youre being way way too nit picky. "Kinda" isnt good enough. There is no name resemblence between Air Shanghai and Shanghai Airlines.

If your going to RAT on other players make sure you have a strong case.

ICEcoldair881

Just to satisfy your "needs" let's call them, I was talking to sami, as he's the admin, not you, and he makes the decisions. I'm not trying to "RAT" out other players, I'm keeping sami "out of trouble". This is an actual legal business so he has to follow all copyright laws which are exactly the same all over the world. Also, I brought up Air Shanghai just as a quiz for myself (kinda selfish) to see if we are allowed airline names such as "Air Japan" or something of that nature. So, unless you have a legidiment reason to be making the choices for sami, I suggest you go to the library and read the wonderful book called "LAW". >:(

The rules are presented to each player and he is solely responsible for the name choice. The administration will enforce the rules by closing the airlines offending the rules, but you are already way out of line here. So stop lecturing other users like that...

* Astra Jet - allowed. Completely different.

* Czech Airways - pretty close but I will allow as it's not the same as the real and it has the nationality name which is not a trademark. Like the previously discussed Royal British Airlines.

* S9 - Just a number and a letter. Not the same as the real one.

* Air Shangai vs. Shanghai Airlines - can you see the difference? Completely allowed.

* Air Arabia - player notified.

FatMikel

Yeah, unless it's pretty obviously the same as the real one, it is just nitpicking.

Hehe let me tell you an inside secret about S7. The brandname S7 Airlines is NOT registered. S7 is officially still called Sibir Airlines S7
So even if you wanted to use S7, you are legally allowed to.

Although I wouldn't know why anybody would want their airline to look like S7... but that's my personal opinion...
The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes, decide everything

Air France Europa in the beginners world.

Can an in-game airline use the "Air France" part as part of a name?
