Supporting Airwaysim

Hello, people. I'm very impressed with your work at AirwaySim. Looking at the Screenshots, we can se that a awsome job is being done to the aviation lovers. As a real-life pilot, it's so good to see that a serious simulation game is being made, so, as a tiny token of appreciation, I was wondering if I can support AirwaySim finantially, because I know that this kind of work demands lots and lots of work! So, if you have any form to do this, using PayPal or so on, please give me explanations to do that.

Thanks in Advance,  ;D

Sami

Thanks for the kind words.  :)

There's no support scheme necessary as the full games we will offer later (after the testing and all) will cost a few bucks to join. This is to cover for the expenses and the last year - year&half of my time I've been making this so far.

(as a side note - I did consider other financial options too, such as advertising and member support schemes, but found that from them the potential income is too thin and unsecure so that we could fund the server and other things, so that's why the paid full access has been selected)

I know there isn't a firm time frame.... but you have to look in the future to a year from now. Will we still need to be paying for games (that is if the expenses are covered?)

Have to see how things get going. I know there's a demand for such simulations in the education world for example so I may focus the commercial efforts there later. But there are no plans for that yet.

Ok Sami, I see your point. That's very clever indeed. Making this kind of pey-per-play  :) is a very intelligent solution

Additionally, if you need some kind of aviation data, and etc, I can handle. Just let me know. I'm very excited to see this whole thing working!  ;D When will we get some other screenshots then?! I think they are kind of "Game Teasers!"  ;D . I'm a old airline simulations game, so, when I saw this, I gone crazy!  ::)

With my best,

Seattle

Sami, I meant once the cost of the game are covered, will we have to continue paying?

Like we've already e-mailed I believe - the Brazilian airports are not all included yet, so that could be spiced up a bit. (and if not mentioned, people who've submitted data to assist will be given free game credits after this is done).

The latest Screenshots #3 thread is quite complete but have to post some more once I finish layout of some sub pages on routes section of the game later this week hopefully.

Yes! We had! But as I work travelling a lot, and additionally I'm taking some flight lessons, I just don't have time to do much... So, as I couldn't help with data, I wondered if I could finantially. I think I'll have to wait the beta or public release to really know what's the experience!  ;D I've played several games, but none like this...  :o

And just to relax a little bit, a small Jean Sibelius composition (I'm sure that the finnish people know this guy very well!  ;D)

Oi Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs' koittaa,
yön uhka karkoitettu on jo pois,
ja aamun kiuru kirkkaudessa soittaa
kuin itse taivahan kansi sois'.
Yön vallat aamun valkeus jo voittaa,
sun päiväs' koittaa, oi synnyinmaa.

Oi nouse, Suomi, nosta korkealle
pääs' seppelöimä suurten muistojen,
oi nouse, Suomi, näytit maailmalle
sa että karkoitit orjuuden
ja ettet taipunut sa sorron alle,
on aamus' alkanut, synnyinmaa.

And for those who doesn't understand this lyrics very well (Shame on You!) Here's a little translation:

Finland, behold, your day has now come dawning;
Banished is night, its menace gone with light,
Larks' song again in morning-brightness ringing,
Filling the air to heaven's great height,
And morning's glow, night's darkness overcoming;
Your day is come, o my native land.

O Finland, rise, stand proud, the future facing,
Your valiant deeds recalling, once again;
O Finland rise, in the world's sight erasing
From your fair brows vile slavery's stain.
You were not broken by oppressors ruling;
Your morning's come, o my native land.

What if we have a referral program? Current pre-beta testers could only do this. This would mean if they refer a certain  amount of people to AWS, they would get a certain # of tokens/credit.
Also, could we make it so there is an option for a normal player [one who would have to pay] and a person playing it for school/educational purposes. This way if a teacher/student wanted to use this to help run a business [airline] for a business class, would that be a possibility?

That would be nice. But you'd have to make it for all the new gamers. Travian (use google) also has this kind of option, there you get "gold", when someone builds a village with over 250 people(this takes some time). In here it could be, that the referred people would have to buy certain amount of credits, and only then the "linker/referrer" would get a certain amount of credits.

Hope you understood  ;D

That doesnt really work for this game....

Someone else also suggested some sort of referral system and it could very well be implemented, but it would be for all players then. But that's something for the future.

yes,Travian is an imagination world.
and AWS is trying to simulate the real world airlines operation..you can't have "pay 2 golds to generate extra 25% profit","pay 5 golds to delivery your aircraft instantly" etc. in AWS.  ;D

Yeah, sorry I didn't read too carefully. Anyway what I meant was somekind of "normal" referral system where if existing user refers the game to let's say 5 friends who also join, then the original member gets some free game credits, or something like that. ...buuuut anyway, those are the things for the marketing dept. then, eventually. ;D

Haven't tested that Travian, but looks nice graphics-wise (for a web game).
