Go the easier way my friend and buy a good product that is able to use all current internet standards without actions and warranty loss - I suggest an Android phone :)

Hmm, and let Google see your every key stroke and movement?  No thanks!

How is that so different compared to Apple?  ::)

I'm sure people at Google have no better thing to do than watching what the great Curse is doing.

However, this should not be a problem for all the normal people out there. ;D

Guess you didn't hear about the guy from the UK who was hit with a £400 data charge after a holiday in Europe despite having roaming turned off on his iPhone.

Why don't I get those bills then?
I go to foreighn countries a lot but never had a €450 for roaming.

Believe me, he was a dumb idiot, not read the SMS your Telco is providing
You when you cross a border and warns you for this.

It's not - see my earlier post.  I don't have an i$device either.  I use a PC with Mozilla on Firefox for web access which gives me everthing several hundred so-called "apps" can.  I use a phone to make calls and send texts.  I have an old Palm pda which does what I want for hand held stuff far better than any "smart" phone can.  I do not feel it necessary to have a device within 6 inches of my hand at all tmes just in case someone updates thier facebook status to tell me they've just aught a bus.  Guess I'm a miserable old s*d!

Was the guy (a) the guy dumb enough not to read the instructions, or (b) is the process set p so as to be difficult to do so that the telco can go kerching! (With doubtless a portion going to Apple).

Much as I loathe Micro$oft, Apple and Google worry me far more.  But we're drifting off topic.....

What will happen if Google knows where are you now? Are you a CIA agent pursuiting by MI6?  :D
If I have now all my calls listening by third persons should I use Nokia 3310 cell phone and while sleeping take out a battery from all phones.  ;D ;D

All that doesn't stops me to use a smart-phone and use and develop Apps for them :)
We were speaking about AirwaySim App, not the way Google manages their systems and users ;)

I'm an Android app developer. Prime example of when apps are useful.

I made Glasgow Bus Finder as an alternative to nextbuses.mobi. Yes, nextbuses is a website, but a lot less usable than the app I created (so my evaluations tell me). Particularly when you're away from a PC.

Apps are brilliant for when you're on the move. At home, I use a browser for AWS, but I hate using my mobile browser when I'm on the train and want to play a bit of AWS. The lo-fi version is good, but not as good as an app could be. It wouldn't replace the browser version, but could replace the lo-fi mobile browser version for a lot of people (including me).

I can certainly understand why Sami doesnt want to put his time into developing an app but I dont understand the rest of you being so against it. It wouldnt be anything more complicated than a preloaded shell with some quicker shortcuts to essential functions. Maybe one push for balance, one push for used market and one push for scheduling.

The mobile version is awesome but even if sometimes links are tiny to hit and you find yourself scrolling alot.

I have a Palm Pre which can not run Flash, so guess what? No computer, no new routes, no scheduling, cant even adjust a route as any change to the times or aircraft type locks it up. Same issues with both my Wife's Pre and a co-workers on a different network. I can read messages, try to lease planes, place orders, and monitor performance, but I can't "run" my airline the way I could if there was an app that made crucial functions accessible on my phone.

Aside from the fact that the above statement confirms me as an AWS addict, I would LOVE to see a Palm AWS App!

Whilst a dedicated app would be nice, considering the new platform and the effort that would need to go into coding for it, it is probably not worth the effort.

I'd rather see a simplified mobile version of the site in browser format with larger fonts, bigger buttons etc ...  at the moment, it is really difficult to hit the right buttons with any consistency. (Especially while driving fast on the highway....   :)  )
