More about game's turn strategy

After some live testing on the system the following model has been adopted for the game's turn calculation method: For now the game time is advanced by one week in every turn. The length of turn then is a customizable value for each game - currently the default value is one turn per 5 hours. This means that the progress of the game is still almost the same as previously planned (one month of game time per one day of real time), but now there are more turns during a day which makes the game's tempo for players a bit faster.

In this week based turn calculation players can see the results of their management actions faster and can make the adjustments if needed (unlike in other management games around, in this game you cannot see the load factors and similar things already in route's planning stage as that is completely unrealistic. So that's why also the turn-based method of calculation.). And on the other hand for players that do not have so much time to check on the game progress, this option is also suitable as they do not "miss" anything compared to the previous timing method.

As for the coding and game progress itself - the game is currently running fully independently on the server. There are two test games running at the moment which have been available for the very limited group of testers (10 persons) for the last week. This way we've tested the calculation system and also digged up some bugs in the system. The basic systems in the game work already but it is still not yet time for a private beta testing stage. As a tip though - a private beta program will be open for those who subscribe to our newsletter. Information will be eventually posted there when the beta opens.

Completed features are all listed on the Features page. Also some new airports and aircraft models have been added to the game recently but at this point they are still secondary items - the main goal is complete the core game first and then start building up the airports/aircraft databases.

Public registration will open after the private beta is complete, and timeframe for this is still the same - during last quarter of 2007. Although the game could be playable already and could be open for public registration, we do not wish to launch an incomplete product. AirwaySim will take a clear lead in the airline management game sector with its features so it's worth waiting a bit ;)
