Development status update
It's been a while since news of the development of AirwaySim has been posted. So here's the update of the current status:
First the biggest update - the game is running now on "real time" mode. Game time does not run anymore in months or weeks but in days and this also means that the game status updates more frequently. This is a major update and it has been running on the test game server for some time now. Most likely also the final version of the game will have this feature as it has proven to make the game even more playable.
Further the data collection is also ongoing all the time. The airports are already well covered (currently 2326 airports from 181 countries) and aircraft database is also growing (currently 254 aircraft models) but there is still much work left on these, especially with the aircraft. A big thanks to all who have helped with the airport data!
The layout of the game content has been also updated and many many new small features have been added all around the game. Main focus is however now on testing of the playability and also in finishing the main features. All this still takes some time and at the moment the public release schedule is still "early 2008" but it may be rather flexible still, depending on when we can begin beta testing (which will commence when all the core features are completed).
Other good news also - we have purchased a new dedicated server for the project and we're expecting to move to the new web server sometime this month.
New screenshots, information about beta testing and other developments will be posted later. Stay tuned!
