Preview: Bankruptcy & Restructuring

The airline closure page will be soon migrated to new v.2.0. (Backend functionality was already changed, so this frontend change is rather quick update)

The first version will include a polished layout that provides the closure options in a clear manner, and has a few new features too.

In the next step a new Restructuring system will be added where you have the chance to do a one-time "chapter 11" style bankruptcy restructuring to avoid your airline going bust.

Preview: Airline Restructuring

Financially distressed airlines will be able to raise cash, reduce costs and reorganize operations through a single reviewed plan instead of closing down.

This is a "once-in-a-lifetime" last chance lifeline to avoid bankruptcy for airlines with active and immediate bankruptcy warning from the bank.

The feature will be added to the new Bankruptcy & Restructuring page in a later update.

Preview: Flight Delays page

A fully updated delays/cancellations dashboard for all your routes is coming soon.

This is mostly just an UI update, bringing this rather old page to the new v.2.0 standard with a new visual layout and mobile-compatibility.

At the same time we're adding new features and more information to this page. The new "Problem Areas" tab allows you to quickly highlight the worst-performing routes from various categories.

Preview: Updated Aircraft Payload & Range page

Just a small update to the payload & range charts page, coming up soon.
  • Update to v.2.0 visuals (pic1)

  • Improvement: Allows to change the seats/engines/weight/upgrade from the same menu directly (so even if you click open some particular aircraft, you can view other variants too)

  • Improvement: Chart has better mouse-hover functionality, showing the range value everywhere you hover the mouse accurately.

  • Improvement: Click anywhere on the range chart to view accurate payload data for that range (pic2)

  • New feature: Range calculator. Allows you to manually input the desired range or passenger requirement, and the system will tell if the aircraft is able to fly to that distance.

This update will replace the old range chart popup, but will also be available as a full "non-popup" page later on.

Preview: Route Editor 2.0

The new Route Editor is a major upgrade to the current old editor that has been serving us in a nearly similar format since the dawn of AirwaySim. In order for us to be able to bring a lot of great new features, a full refresh of this one of the most important features of the game is now under way.

Here are some highlights:
  • Completely rebuilt interface that is mobile-compatible. The content is split into tabs since the editor will be a powerhouse collection of different tools and features. Quick editing & Saving is still possible from the first tab like before. The tabbed design also prepare the editor for planned big new features such as onboard service.
  • Direct scheduling: Assign an aircraft directly in the editor, with schedule clashes shown by weekday and unsuitable aircraft disabled.
  • Keep aircraft assigned when editing flight times or days, provided the updated route still fits their schedule.
  • More flexible technical-stop editing: add or remove individual stops and copy them to the opposite direction in reverse order.
  • Detailed payload comparisons by aircraft model, engine, takeoff weight and upgrade, with separate outbound and return results.
  • Independent cargo allocations for each direction, including suggestions based on each direction's demand.
  • Reusable cargo presets: choose built-in allocations or save your own for other routes.
  • Cargo capacity previews showing weight carried, hold space used and whether weight or volume limits the load.

Work is still in progress and more features will be added. But the new Route Editor 2.0 is already available for public beta testing! You can try it by clicking » Use new editor in the current route editor. Your selection will be remembered on your device, and you can switch back to the old editor at any time.

Preview: Native 7-day Scheduling

Some power-users create their route schedules with a technique called "7-day scheduling" where each day of the route gets assigned to different aircraft. With the new route editor this is now a native feature of AirwaySim and available for all with easy interface.

Steps to achieve this are simple:
  • In route editor, choose your desired fleet group and route's operating days (usually "Every Day"), and choose the other details such as departure time etc.
  • In the route editor's last tab, Scheduling, choose the "Different aircraft per day" option. This opens the scheduling view.
  • Click a day in an aircraft's schedule grid to assign that day's flight to it. In other words, to assign the Monday's flight to a certain plane, click on that aircraft's schedule grid's Monday's cell.
  • Repeat for all weekdays of operation (Mo...Su). If needed, click an assigned day again to unassign it. Finally Save the route.
Done. No separate scheduling needed.  :)

If you later need to edit the route, like for example change the prices or cargo allocation, one edit covers all of the routes you just assigned.

This feature will be available for public beta testing very soon with Route Editor 2.0 and Scheduling 2.0.
