There should be no "Calling" of airports. 

Everyone should be on their own like in each game.  The only other fair way is to have a lottery of sorts.

Are you opposed to everyone "calling" their initial hub even if there are no restrictions on routes and focus cities later on in the game? There are only 30 players so finding a private hub for everyone should not be a problem. I can only speak for myself but I am willing to go to almost any major airport as soon as I can begin the game alone. What would be unfair is if I had to compete with someone from the very beginning while almost everyone else was able to start without any competition. If this is a matter of principle for you (i.e. "I'm not playing unless there is a hub lottery"), please suggest how this would be done in practice.

@ Masoniclight: this game will only have 30-50 players in it. Why not chose a bigger base?

1) to prove that you dont have have a larger base
2) its my "home" airport if you will.. Im from Wisconsin.. gotta give some love to my state :-)
3) just to have fun. I have used Milwaukee and Madison in two of the other games while I was trying to figure out the game itself.. I now know basically what I did wrong and correct and will be able to apply it now..

I don't see why it should be a problem to "claim" or request a hub. If 2 or more people want the same hub, we can have some kind of runoff lottery or something.  Like Kontonio said, there will only be 30 or so players.  Having a 1 major hub per player should not be a problem.

First off, take the number of players.  Let's just use 10 as an example.

Then you randomize the numbers.  So, for instance, you have 9 4 1 3 8 10 2 6 7 5

Then, players give you a number between 1 and 10.

You then count the EMPTY slots on your previous list.

So, if someone gives you the number 5, that player's number would be eight. 9 4 1 3 8 10 2 6 7 5
The next person gives you 5 and his number would be 10. 9 4 1 3 10 2 6 7 5
If another person then gives you 5, that person's number would be 2.  9 4 1 3 2 6 7 5

The last thing that would happen is to pick the starting number.  If it is the number 9, then the 9th person would get first choice 

This essentially randomizes the game 3 times and would make this fair.

I guess I don't totally understand, but if you think it makes the game setup more fair and everyone is happy with it, then I don't have a problem with it.
