Midwestern Airline WTF?

I just relocated to a new airport that just opened ... now i see, so did others ... one of them is midwestern airline and Im a bit confused right now as to why its allowed for such a big airline to change HQ since this airline only just came there but is allready (be4 the airport even opened) having hundreds of passenger ready flights?!

Stuff like that angers me when ppl that allready are doing great take the chance to evolve from small airlines at a new airport by just walking in there with more planes than u ...

Seriously he has like EVERY route that is just a bit useable taken allready HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE HE CANT BE AT THE AIRPORT YET! I checked it be4 and i was the only one at that airport then suddenly hes there without even waiting 2 weeks and having seemingly endless airplanes ... please somebody check that out and tell me its intended that way and im gone forever from this game ... this angers me so much i dont even know what to say but: WORST FLAW EVER if it turns out that a huge airline like that can just quietly and obviously faster than a small airline change its location ... a airline like that should take months to change!!!

Are you talking about game #2 and the airports in Denver? When Denver International opened, Denver Stapleton closed. If Midwestern was located at Stapleton, it's operation was automatically moved to the new airport. Nothing wrong here.

Athriaxo

Oh thats just great ... I didnt know that and moved there cause it said no airlines are located there!

Ok so theres no way for a airline that didnt get real big in the beginning to do so later ... im outa here bye all!

First of all stop that yelling what you had in the first post.... And those silly accusations when you clearly even don't know how it works. >:(

When the base airport closes surely you cannot think that the airline is left stranded at the old and closed airport with no way to continue the game... It is automatically relocated to the new airport opening, on the date the old airport closes.

Did you think Midwestern was going to disappear when it's hub airport was closed? This situation has been covered numerous times on the forum. You just happened to make your plans at an unfortunate time. Did you not think it was a little peculiar that nobody was based at one of the biggest airports in the US at this stage of the game?

As for starting the game a little late, as I have done with game #2, you are right that all the huge megahubs are already taken. However, there are still smaller airports without any airlines based there. Just look around and find your market. You are not going to become the biggest airline in the game, but still there are opportunities to develop at least a regional carrier.

Yes its just that I thought there would not be another airline as it wasnt shown ... it wouldnt be so far off to think that the new airport would allready show the ones that will be relocated there just as it shows when you manually relocate a airline there!

Its very missleading and im angry cause I can now bankrupt yet another one of my attempts ...

Ill try my luck in game 3 ... i cant bring myself to try nr 2 again .. im definateley outa there its just too tough for me  ;)

Yeah I did that but since its possible to 1 leg the routes even on the small airports all routes with bigger demand are gone ...

I joined game 2 late, at a 'marginal' airport, and I'm doing quite alright. One of my toughest competitors in a beta game came in late (presumably after a bankruptcy or two) and managed to overwhelm two other competitors at YYZ. But, uh... yeah. This might well be one of those 'don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out' situations.

Wow.  How much hate can one man spill!?

What the hell would you be saying right now if your airline was screwed because you based in Denver originally and CANT move and CANT fly?  I guarantee you'd be crying just as much.

Really?  Are you really that ignorant?

Sorry if I came off too mean, but I don't like people ripping Sami down for this little experiment without knowing the facts.

Dude, as I mentioned I was not aware that this airport is a replacement for a different one ... on one hand ppl tell me to approach things in a business sim kind of way but when I do I learn that its still more of a game as in the real world airports dont get "replaced" ... new ones open old ones close, yes but very seldom at the same time ...

The reason im "crying" is because I restarted for the 10th time or more and since not everyone has the luck and yes i say LUCK because thats mainly what it is at this stage to either have a good spot or having been in beta because since there is no manual so far those things dont get explained so dont go all high and mighty on me whilst this game is still new and without propper information ... i cant just guess all those things cause when I do you see where it ends ...

Yes.... but he did recognize his mistake. This is a mellow website.... not supposed to be so intense.  :)

Sami..... I think its time to lock this thread as things have been solved and the little fight has been resolved.....

They do. When a completely new airport opens in the same city the operations are usually moved as quickly as possible to the new airport (ie. in a one crunch) as operating out of two planes is impossible for an airline.. Think about it. There are about 10-15 such occasions in the game like MUC, HKG, DEN, OSL ...

And do you really think it would be more "business-like" if the player are the old airport would have to suffer for example from 2-3 weeks of "moving period" with no profits or flights at all? No.

You have to appreciate there is no set step by step guide to a successful airline, its obviously how each player approaches the game. If you are struggling im pretty sure most of the Beta players and game developers are more than happy to help you out and pass on their knowledge so you are not at a disadvantage for just joining the game and it certainly isnt down to luck.

Have a go at Game 3, and if you choose a big airport be prepared for very strong competition, and play nice!

Athriaxo

Yeah I joined game 3 allready and doing fine now that I know what to look after ... ty!
