This isn't real world name but it is a bad word in Spanish:

BOLUDO AIRWAYS in Buenos Aires (SAEZ)

Literally means big hairy balls airways.

Sorry but literally fell off my chair laughing then.

Let them keep it for comedy factor lol although it isn't very subtle.

A suggestion ...

The US Patent & Trademark Office provides an electronic query vehicle here:  http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=searchss&state=4009:at7pbb.1.1

Perhaps this could be used to quickly identify any potential violations (at least with regard to any real company operating within the US).  My feeling is if it's not registered with the USPTO then it isn't a protected name.

I am currently managing Pioneer Airlines in MT2 and I searched it with the USPTO before using it -it is not registered with them, although it was a real airline until it merged with Continental in 1955.  My logo and livery are also hand drawn by me and nothing like the original.

You bet.  Also, the search will show expired when you click on that link but just click the trademark button in the upper left to start a new search then click on "Search Marks" - then when the next page opens click on "New User Search form - Basic" to begin a new query.

guys, Spirit Airlines has been brought up numerous times. WE KNOW HE'S THERE ALREADY!

GoGreenCEO, your link works fine, but only in the States. do you know of any that works worldwide? ;)

No, I don't know of an international database query vehicle.  But I will see if I can find anything useful and report back if I do.

I think the links stays up if it is clicked on every so often.  Eventually it will expire and you will need to follow the steps I posted above to start a new search.

SACEO

OK, the USTPO has a page with links to other intellectual property sites worldwide.  The links are arranged by nationality and there is a link to the Trilateral Co-operation website which allows searches for Europe, Japan and the US - seemingly an all-in-one query vehicle for those three nations.  I haven't clicked on the individual nation links to see what is offered with each.

Here is the link to the USTPO page: http://www.uspto.gov/faq/other.jsp

and heres is the direct link to the Trilateral Co-operation site: http://www.trilateral.net/index.html;jsessionid=8uptcfj3n465

SACEO

Ummm, after trying to use the Trilateral search I don't think that database is operational yet.  I can't get a hit on anything I search.

GoGreenCEO, what I meant was that registrations in Asia/Oceania etc are not appearing thereby meaning it doesn't work worldwide. and try to post as little replies as possible, it save on space and thereby room on the server. ;)

ChrisA330, I live in Canada too and it works perfectly, I even saw my GP's company registered there, but what I meant is shown above. ;)

two others in MT2:

ICEcold,

I realize that the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office isn't going to provide information on other international companies.  That is why I provided the other links and info.

As far as posting and saving space, perhaps I should just mind my own business and not post anything at all ... "try to post as little replies as possible" ... seriously?
