ATR 42

These pop up on the used market now and then and I know they are popular for the regional operators just starting out. Just something I discovered really that I thought I would share with anyone who was just starting out. By reconfiguring the layout to Y40 Class standard seating you get about 400nm extra range. The ATR 42's come with a Y48 High Density seating plan as standard. So by making this simple change you will get more range and also up the comfort level which will help you RI which in turns helps your CI.

Hope thats correct and its of some use to the newer players.

But in exchange you lose if you are trying to make >2h flights with a small turboprop, compared to airline flying with a larger (jet?).

Ryanjet

I guess so, but when your flying routes that have a max demand of say no more than 40-50 pax a day, will you want to fly a jet with its larger overheads? The different config certainly seems to suit short regional routes with low demand.

I would fly with the standard config. It's still able to fly the same distance with the same pax and I don't think the added pax comfort in low demand short haul is worth the price of re-configure. Also having only "standard" configured aircraft increases flexibility. Just my 5c.

I take 72-200 with another kind of configuration, meaning cr#ping on the some miles, and use this: Y68|C4 on my routes with 580NM range from LHR, but I can't tell about the economicallity (right word??) because ATR lets itself too much time to deliver!

but I think that it will work out 8)

Jona, I refit ALL of my new ATR 72's with a similar Y56 C9, range is 790NM and they are great for picking up C class LF's and profits on the smaller routes and routes where other airlines are running straight Y class. I am currently in love with the ATR aircraft and have no desire to get any jets any time soon.

Mine now got delivered, and make even more money, than my B737-200Adv. (Y114|C5)!!
I am very happy, to have them!
and I will order further more soon, but this time with direct purchase, instead of leasing....

nice day to anyone

I have some 3 hour flights with them and I will look closely at the results.

I have neglected my company for a week or so, and now I added an awfull lot of routes to my network. Some routes are priced at Y99,- and C199,-

300nm or less for turboprops.  If you get 10 flights per day out of them, you are doing well.  (flights, not routes)
