Lets have a bit of fun.. test "the old grey matter" and see who can recognise / remember these airlines. Of course you can cheat and go look them up (if you have an inkling what to look for)   ... but challenge yourself to get this right without looking on the internet for the answers.  Results on 24 Nov 2022.

CORRECT ANSWER - No.4:

Alliance Air (a JV between Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa using a 747SP leased from SAA)
Merpati Nusantara (from Indonesia using ATR.72s)
Ecuatoriana (from Ecuador - stunning livery for a 707!)

Do you know an approximate % of how much you are penalized for having more the 3 fleet groups?

Depending on the size of your airline, it can be enough to bring a tear to your eye.

penalty feels about 1% margin per 100 planes. Could be a bit higher though, need more testing

there's honestly no penalty upto about 450 aircraft. But once you get to 450 it will kill 90$ or airlines. Until 450 the commonality is proportionate to the fleet size, after 450 punative penalties kick in. I had 2000 aircraft, 3 fleets commonality 600m/mo. I added a single plane of a new fleet type, monthly commonality jumped to 4bn!! At that point you gotta onder if a 4th fleet is really adding value...
