Yan

Hello to all,

I'm new to this fabulous site of simulation of management of airlines that is, I think, the single most realistic we can find in this category as today :) !! ... And precisely because of the complexity of its features, I'm afraid I can't control everything well, and lead my company too quickly into bankruptcy, which is why I have a few questions before I start and test for safety on the free trial game. ..I would ask you to be patient with me if I happen to make my questions wrong because I am a frenspeaker :P !! ...

To start my company I am considering two hypotheses: either start with a fleet specialized in short-haul and thus serve domestic routes in France, or open a line in each poles(the short-haul , medium-haul and long-haul).

My questions are as follows:

1) Is it a good idea to start in the free trial with a company that is specialized in regional lines? Could there be at launch and even with leased aircrafts, to open a line in the short haul, another in the medium-haul and finally one in the long hau ???l?

2) What is generally the capital in the launch of a company in the free trial? Do I have to use the bank to hire my first aircraft and open my first lines?

3) Since I live in France, I wish my first airport headquarters be located at Orly or Roissy: which would be the most interesting  as a company that start either in the short-haul flights, or with a plane in each sector (short-haul, medium-haul and long)?

4) In terms of aircraft fleet:

a) I find it too expensive to buy aircrafts, even used, at the launch of a company, as this may require a high debt, and fortunately simulation allows to lease new or used aircrafts . Which are the most interesting, new airplanes are they more expensive to rent but safer with less risk of failure, or used aircrafts are they more interesting to all points of view, provided they do not be used too longly? Is there an purchase option at the end of contract lease of a new aircraft?

b) How is the registration of an aircraft, if we choose to operate in France, is only the registration in force in this country that is taken into account? When the aircraft is leased from a foreign company or a virtual broker, have we to the right to re-register it? Should we pay a fee like a car with certificate?

c) I have seen on the list of planes available in the game that some models have several types of engines: reactor performance in terms of fuel consumption are they really considered :o ?! ...Is each aircraft came with a pre-defined type of  engines, or can we choose ourselves, in the  dedicated  menu to order an aircraft, the type of reactor that will power our aircraft ? What are the parameters to choose the type of reactor without risk of error in performance of consumption according to our needs, and if we do mistakes, can we change them in the course of service of the plane(when he's working on a line)? Can I choose the type of engine for leased aircraft?

I'll stop here so as not to saturate you with questions, and above all with the hope of effective help from you  ;)!! ...

Thanks to all in advance and see you soon ;)!!...

Hello and welcome,

1) All strategies can work in AWS.

2) Yes, you should lease aicraft for a longer time before going to purchase them.

3) CDG is way bigger than Orly. Both have demand in shorthaul and longhaul, like in real life.

4)
a) There are no failures due to age in AWS. Make sure the condition is >80%. Yes, you can purchase aircraft you have leased at any time during the lease.
b) The registration of the country you are in is used.
c) You can choose what engines you want when you order an aircraft. The manufacturer as well as the engine model and even the specific sub-type if there is one in reality.
Engines provide different ranges, consume different amounts of fuel per hour and, of course, cost different amounts of money when placing the order.

Have you read the excellent manual of the game and the FAQ in the Beginner's World General Forums as well as the one linked in my signature here?

Yan

Hello CURSE,

Thank you for answering my questions, which are intended to expand on the points addressed by the FAQ for this game, and elucidating the complex concepts presented in his very substantial manual !! ...

I notice that you have not completely answered some questions from my first message, so I'll come back before addressing other points:

1) So you confirm to me that it is not risky dice the launch of the company for open lines and lease aircraft simultaneously in the short-haul, medium and long haul? ...

2) It seems that this question has not been well understood: which is the  capital we have in the launching of our company in the free trial? Should I must use credit to meet all the initial investments?

3) Roissy would it be more expensive in landing taxes and busier than Orly airport, which would affect the availability of slots and the state of competition more globally? In other words, would it be more difficult to fit among the company rather operating at Roissy than Orly?

4)Concerning aircrafts:

a) You surprise me by telling me that there are no failures due to aging aircraft ??? !! ... In other words the risk of accidents due to improper maintenance is excluded ??? ? ...

b) Concerning the registration of aircraft, should we choose in a pre-defined list a registration numbers available for the country where we are? What's happening when the aircraft is leased from a virtual agent or company? Can we attribute to a new aircraft the same serial number of a plane that we had one and sold? Should we pay a fee for each  registration of aircraft?

c) Can we change the engines even after the purchase of a plane, while it is already running? Can we choose the types of reactors that we wishes for a leased jet, and it will increases the cost from the owner, as well as starting contract with the installation of new reactors, and in its termination with the removed of engines?

d)

When we doing full of jet fuel for our aircraft, should we consider the long waiting time in the queue of planes ready for take-offs on busy airports?

Should we consider the running time on the taxiways?

Should we consider additional reserves for holding in approach and the emergency route diversion?

Can we calculate the load of kerosene so that we doesn't need to refuel for the return flight?

Is the mass of kerosene  adds to the structural weight of the aircraft in addition to the seats installed on board, affecting its ability to serve a given line and the runway he needs to take off?

e) The centering of mass of passengers and baggage is it simulated on aircraft models like in reality?

Aoitsuki

1) well you can do short medium and long haul at the same time, but I would suggest concentrate one for a more 'optimal' experience.

2)the starting capital depends on which gameworld you join during your trial process. You act same way as anyone other people except you only last for 5(or is it 7 days)

3) general rule of thumb is larger the airport, more demand and higher operating cost. competition is based on player, so when you join the game you get to look into it more in depth.

4) AWS has not implemented aircraft accident due to improper maintenance. However improper maintenance = miss checks which will be grounded by the system and issue you fines. Age of the aircraft will affect the check cost of the aircraft.

b) you will find out more when you step in the game, but to answer part of it (beginning string and whole format) is predefined by country.) There is a unique aircraft Number and a registration code that is unique to you, but as soon as you get rid of it(market) it will be erased.

c) engine choice is in game, you cannot upgrade or change engine. Some aircraft may have the option to install hush kit.

d) there is a minimum turn around time in place for each type of aircraft.

no such system in place

no such system in place

fuel is filled to full by default.

read abouve

e) there are implementation of range vs seat. but that's about it.

Basically half of the stuff you ask can be answered as soon as you enter, although playing a perfect game is quite impossible even to vets I find the jump in ask question later approch will be easier.

Mr.HP

1) So you confirm to me that it is not risky dice the launch of the company for open lines and lease aircraft simultaneously in the short-haul, medium and long haul? ... For new players, I'd recommend short and medium haul operating by A320s or B737s or the like

2) It seems that this question has not been well understood: which is the  capital we have in the launching of our company in the free trial? Should I must use credit to meet all the initial investments? Usually the initial capital is enough for 2 very large A/C (A330s etc..) or 4-5 large A/C (A320s etc...) or 10 medium A/C (ATRs etc...)

3) Roissy would it be more expensive in landing taxes and busier than Orly airport, which would affect the availability of slots and the state of competition more globally? In other words, would it be more difficult to fit among the company rather operating at Roissy than Orly? CDG would have more competition and would be hard for a new player. We have a system that can guide players when they start up. Information about how many airlines based, how many slots taken, etc... at a certain airports

4)Concerning aircrafts:

b) Concerning the registration of aircraft, should we choose in a pre-defined list a registration numbers available for the country where we are? What's happening when the aircraft is leased from a virtual agent or company? Can we attribute to a new aircraft the same serial number of a plane that we had one and sold? Should we pay a fee for each  registration of aircraft? . No fee for registration as well as moving A/C from this base to another base of yours. You will have a registration number template for each country. You lease an A/C and it will be automatically re-registered. And when move A/C to another base in another country, the reg number change automatically

c) Can we change the engines even after the purchase of a plane, while it is already running? Can we choose the types of reactors that we wishes for a leased jet, and it will increases the cost from the owner, as well as starting contract with the installation of new reactors, and in its termination with the removed of engines? Only possible to choose engine when order new A/C.

d)

When we doing full of jet fuel for our aircraft, should we consider the long waiting time in the queue of planes ready for take-offs on busy airports? As mentioned by Aoitsuki above, there's minimum turn around time, and it comes with % of delay due to too short TAT. I'd recommend you to aim for less then 10% delay

Should we consider the running time on the taxiways? Already included in the fly time

Can we calculate the load of kerosene so that we doesn't need to refuel for the return flight?

Is the mass of kerosene  adds to the structural weight of the aircraft in addition to the seats installed on board, affecting its ability to serve a given line and the runway he needs to take off? Actually, the A/C is filled with just enough fuel to get to the destination. Then get refuel just enough to return. Also, if MTOW need 2000 m runway to reach 2000 nm range, and if your destination has like 1800 m runway but is only 500nm away, you can still operate the A/C with full pax

+1

Plus remember that this is as much of a game as it is a business simulation, so a lot of real world situations are not modeled or are handled in less detail.
