Banned IPs and my destroyed game

Story in brief.

In game #3 my airline was number one across Oceania.
I go to stay two nights at the Hilton Hotel at Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati Ohio (USA).
I try logging into the game from the business center's computer and the laptop I brought.
I got a message saying that the IP I was trying to use was banned.  I could NOT access the forums either.
I got back only to find my airline in an unrecoverable state.
I could NOT get a message to anyone for help until now.
This is something that CAN not happen.

I have lost a month's worth of hard work and there was really no way to address it.

Ouch that's hard, and i can understand your frustation, why would the IP of an Hilton Hôtel would be blocked... strange...

For these things you should really contact us using the contact form as I can easily miss these forum threads.

The site utilizes a spam check based on IP addresses and also email hosts on registrations. The blocklist is based on our own error log and also a site called stopforumspam.com which is a reliable source. Spam on open forums is a big problem these days but with this and a few other small & clever safety tricks we never had any problems. It does not end in just the forums but also to blog comments, links libraries (submitting bogus sites) etc etc, if we'd had those features here, so blocking those computers totally is the only option.

Basically the IP ends up on the blocklist if someone is trying to abuse our site and we detect that from the logfiles (= not that often), or the computer is infected or is  a open proxy or otherwise allows malicious people to try to use the computer as a bot/peer for attacking other servers (more likely .. and these can happen without the user even knowing it).

Your post does not tell when this was, or what the IP was so I cannot check the status of it.... I've however changed the credit balance so that you got the 10Cr back from the game you just left.

(ps. really cannot imagine how a well managed airline can go down in two days ... I've noticed that if you have the automated maintenance & salary raise etc on, it can go on for weeks at best without anyone having to attend to it)

I did not have the auto raise function going but did have the auto hire thing going.

Because I was right in the middle of switching out planes (with some leases expiring), what ended up happening is me having a ton of staff, a bunch of unused aircraft, and no way to adjust prices when fuel went through the roof.  We were at the point of the game where everyone was in strict competition with narrow thin margins.

I appreciate the help, Sami.  If there is a way of allowing forum access to registered members at these IPs, it may save some headache.

That's really not possible as if the IP is in the ban list you are not able to login in the first place ;)  (it could work if you are 'permantently' logged in but in this case it wouldn't have helped either?)
