That's correct. In busy airports like LHR, slots gone in seconds, and without slots, you can't add new routes. The only way to grow is to replace smaller A/C with bigger ones

It´s happening in every game world, that slots on top airports are gone.They increase on a random basis, but constantly checking the slot page is not allowed.So basing at those airports, especially joining late is not recommendable.
I see you are Australian and can´t see, where you are based. If it is somewhere Australian, I can only tell by knowledge of many games,that there are a lot Australian players here who open up business preferably on there home continent, and the most BK´s (bankrupcies) I see happening in Australia,because space there is naturally limited. Try some other spot on the planet.

He's in Demo, so obviously base in North America

I didn´t remember Demo is North America only.
But even there I swear you will find spots with a lot of slots and unserved demand.
It´s just a little more work than just checking Atlanta.
