Shorter Games/Intermediate play

Does anybody else miss shorter game worlds?
I think the most exciting part of the game can be the initial setup, or at least it seems to be the part of the game that i need practice with.  I've never had an airline that's been successful enough to last a long period of time so I didn't know if there's a point when really large airlines decide they can no longer grow and leave. (If such a thing ever happens)
Has there also been talk of an intermediate leveled game world?  one that people who really know what they are doing (you guys know who you are  ;)) are not allowed to join.  kind of a mash up of those of us who tend to bankrupt ourselves due to poor decisions.  i think the mentor system was a great idea, but in modern times 7 I've been waiting for a mentor for over a week.
On a side note, when is a good time to join a game in progress?

I always said two game worlds with fewer players would be better than one game world with too many players. Not sure how you can separate players on skill. Where do the people go that are sort of in between?

Two (or more) identical game worlds limited to 325 players would I think be better. Everybody is only allowed to join 1 game world then as option.
The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes, decide everything

Modern times game with only 325 participants would get boring very quickly, since there would not be enough competition..

Besides of the full/long worlds, I would think also small "theme" games. But depending a bit what people think, and also in the past the "challenges" have not been that successful..

I'm glad this is getting a bit of attention  :)
You'll have to forgive me though Sami, I don't remember many of the small "theme" games.  Where they all advertised to be at a harder setting?  I enjoy the great variety of aircraft and situations for the game, but I fall for the deadly sin of going with whats familiar.
650 airline games can seem overwhelming for that reason.  all the cities that I'm familiar with in the United States have LOTS of other fliers.  has any talk ever been made about being able to search airports by size internationally?  or even add a box to check for airports without airlines?  It is distressing to be in a mid sized airport (KCVG) with 3 other competitors  :-\

You can do this already. You can filter by continent or country, and get a list sorted by size.

No way to pick the unoccupied airports without checking manually. And no way to see the size of existing airlines without opening an airline yourself. If joining a game partway through, often a good idea to use the first BK to open an airline, have a proper lookaround the gameworld to find a good place to HQ, then BK and start properly there.

My challenge in this game has always been to just survive an entire round, however long it might be. I actually BKed a 2nd time in JA because I restarted my initial airline but simply got too bored to do the same thing over again. The only reason I'm still in JA is that I saw the chance to become the sole operator of An-26s and LET L-410s.

Incidentally my only two airlines that have been around from the start are my Russian Planes Only Soviet Socialist Airways in DoTM and my completely isolated EMB-120 only TroxAir in MT.
