Question on Making Different Routes

Ive noticed that a lot of long haul sectors are served daily by airlines that have the flight as a different route each day:
ie. Route 1, Day 1
Route 2, Day 2
Route 3, Day 3
etc.

I was wondering why they do this since the flights are all at the same times, just on different days? And does it affect LF or profit?

Because the route is too long to fly once daily with a single plane.

So instead, you make a week long schedule, flying to say 5 different places. You make 7 copies of it, one starting each day of the week, and assign that to 7 different planes. End result is that you fly to all 5 places once per day, at the same time each day. Much more efficient that way. Because each day's flight is on a different plane, each day's flight has a different route number.

It doesn't change LF, and it only increases profit because it increases efficiency.

Let me see if I can find a decent screenie...
