Is Germany nowadays the new Turkey?

Is it just me or do you guys also think that an airline called "Turk Hava Yollari" is quite strange for having a base in Frankfurt. Not even to mention that this name belongs to a real company and sami, if you are not doing anything against all the real names within the game, you will end up in a lot of trouble because of copy rights, trademarks etc. etc.!

Do not get me wrong, this small guy, flying with some Russian junk, is not a real threat to me, actually I could make him disappear within a couple of game days, but don't you think that there should be some kind of Name check before an airline could start? I mean, well, there are actually a lot of Turkish folks over here in Germany, but basing the national TURKISH airline in Germany is a little bit too much I think. ;)

I agree about the name check, but please don't threaten to make an airline "disappear," even if they don't threaten you.

As for the "strange-ness," some players like to keep the same name throughout their "career."

Sami

Real airline names or logos are not allowed as you can read in the rules. There is a filter list for the names but it is not perfect so reporting these to us is the only way to get it changed.

And airline name vs. base is totally up to the player ..

JWKIII

@jaga: Don't worry, I am a very friendly person and competition is a good thing. But then please with some realism :) I won't make him close down. :) Well, he will do so by himself if he stays with those old Russians. :)

@sami: "Turk Hava Yollari" is the turkish name of Turkish Airlines. :)

Hehe I understand, I just don't like to see bullying, so I was trying to prevent it. :-\

Btw, yeah, I'm not fond of old Russians either. Haha
I prefer my old British instead ;]

You should add "Air transat" to filters sami, i've seen it days ago within the game.

Like me, Although Next Game I play I might Part with my FlySure.

Same here. I may change my name from Bluesky to another, cooler name.

It's up in the air though. Boeing 737NGs come first tho.

Sami, I think we should have a reporting button or form to report the rl/otherwise violating airline names. There seems to be a whole bunch of them in every game.

Ive seen many cleverly used real airline names.

For example:
United Airlink
American Airways
Southwestern Airlines
American Airlink

There are lots more....

But, there are also ones that use real airline names, sadly.

Yeah I think I also saw Ryan Airways in one of these games. But I think they are fine, only if they use exactly the name of a real airline it's a problem.

JWKIII

Nope, sorry. Even if the name is close to the real one, the company could sue AirwaySim for copyright issues.

Athriaxo

I´m lucky cause I dont think there are many real airlines called "Foxy Air" :P

Echoco

just out of curiosity how about Sony Air? using a real company name but not an airline

Since it's not the exact name, it doesn't pose a problem. And those are already out of our control anyway.

Sami,

Check this airline:

Calls himself "Taron"
however, has the Tarom logo and name on the livery.

Clearly copyright infringement.  :-\

In reply to this post (before it went off topic  ::) )

It may have been that Turk, started operations in turkey..... But due to competition, relocated to Germany, but doesnt/cant afford to fork out more money for rebranding.
