Cargo

I saw something about cargo-only planes on the airplane list. That made me wonder if there was any way to start a cargo airline.

Not (but hopefully) "yet".

We will then probably expect to see the 747/777 production lines filling up very quickly...

and cessna grand caravans actually being used.

Something like over 2/3rds of global cargo is still carried by regular passenger airlines anyway.

But in the game, you can just see people ordering 777Fs like there's no tomorrow.

Im all about DC10s and 722s

or something Twin Ottery in Alaska.

There are many of us who have run pretty much every type of airline, this will breathe new life into the sim and add new challenges and opportunities.

I see. ;D

Just a thought...

I know some people will disagree, but I'm thinking that if it is possible to have a separate cargo division where you can separate your fleet group. I say this because the DC10Fs would probably be dominant in the cargo sector during a certain period of the game.

If say, Y Airlines operates 3 fleet groups that don't do cargo planes and wants to go into the cargo business, do you force them to add a 4th fleet group (eg. a DC10F) and potentially double their fleet commonality costs?

So, what if Y Airlines Cargo can be formed, using the same cash flow as Y Airlines, and has to be at the same base(s)? The fleet commonality, maintenance, and staff costs can be separate from the passenger sector. Essentially you can run a passenger sector and a cargo sector together without too much limitations.

Just something that came up in my tired head at 4 in the morning, thoughts?

Okay here we go.   Assign a 4th class of passenger being the cargo.   Every plane has a set value with a serious plus/minus dependant on the number of seats (If you have fewer seats, it can hold more... fill a a380 all hd and almost none).     Lastly put some serious thought to how much cargo needs to go from a to b.  Have more cargo on certain sectors.

found a website where you can start a cargo airline. not as good as AWS but until sami develops a way to start a cargo airline you can start one here

That game really stinks, BTW.

You have to initiate every single flight, be online to keep doing that.  There are a ton of ads on every page, so it is just a system to get a ton of ad impressions...  Don't waste your time...

After spending more time on it it's true that it's not worth it

Are you also gonna fly 757's and 777F's and paint your planes with a purple tail and a certain logo that is orange and purple with 5 letters?  :P

only with planes that they have developed a freight version of

swiftus27

^^^   I completely disagree with that statement.

There are so many empty 757s that fly between Houston and South america... they make their money on the freight below the cabin.
