Most Difficult Area

The most difficult area I seen so far, is starting an airline in the Middle East. Of course the middle east is in asia, but it was always the hardest place for me to work with. Never had I had a successful airline their. During the Beta games, real games, I always went bankrupt. I chose Beirut, Lebanon as my starting city (My Home Country) ans I always failed. Maybe this should be an area where improving can be done. For those who think that it may not be hard, I searched over 60 possible flights on the route planning page, and the highest passenger amount I got was 330 per day using flights to Frankfurt Germany, and Paris-Charles. Even with those two 7-Days a week, it was not enough to cover Marketing, Fuel, etc. If anyone has success in this area, I would really like to know what you did! Especially from Beirut, Lebanon. Thanks!

Well the gulf area turned out successful for me in the past games. It takes time, but when it comes there, it's nice. I'm now based out of Bahrain, load factor on only 46, but all routes hold the demand to be packed both directions.  ;)

The actual hardest place in the game is Africa. The easiest is in Algeirs - followed very closely by TUN/MIR/CMN/CAI

Harder - IN south Africa, based in places like JNB or CPT

Even Harder in places like Lagos/Nairob

Finally, hardest in places like Addis Abba, Dar es Salaam, etc.

Hmmm.. that's interesting!
When I had Yalla Airlines back in Beta 1 in BEY/OLBA, I think I remember making like top 20 or 30, and in some figures top 10 ;D

But that was Beta 1, so hmmm.
Oh and in Beta 2 I had Al Libnani Air also in BEY, it was top 10 in numerous things like profit and pre-tax. What I did was to focus on short-haul routes and then go long-haul.

Beirut is a hard place to base in though! That's why I don't base there anymore...  :'(

i really tried, but was never successful, in the 1st beta game, i was successful, but when the second one came along, i could never get an airline started their.

I'm thinking of reprising Empire Airlines in the World Game #2. However, instead of basing at JFK I am thinking to establish a hub at a southern African airport and operate a bush service using small a/c. Would like to see if it's sustainable to operate such an enterprise between small african cities. No long haul international routes (the flagship route might be a once or twice a day service to Jo'burg or Cape Town).

Only thing of concern, with a name like Empire all those recently elevated presidents in southern africa may not be amused given the battles they had to fight to establish independence.....

Anyone want to put a wager down that I'll last 3+ years???? Anyone think another world area is more difficult????

Kieran.
