Has the Q400 been moved to the same fleet group as the older DHC8s in v1.2? It was quite a show stopper for it to be in a separate fleet group when you already operated a lot of DHC8s.

still not in the same flight group the Q400 is separate from the 100-300.

Yeah, this is why I'm keeping my DHC-8 orders going... can't justify the switching costs, though a real airline wouldn't have much impact from the switch.

The problem is that the Q400 is essentially the same aircraft as the 100/200/300, only with a stretch and loads of improvements...Some time ago Sami told me that the problem is that the Q400 is much faster than the older DHC8s. How has this problem been solved for the ATR? The 500 series is also much faster than the older ones...are they also in a separate group?

Just compared different ATR72 models in ATB.  The database lists the ATR72-500 as having the same speed as the ATR72-200/210.

The speed difference with oldgen Dash and 400 series is so huge that they cannot be in the same scheduling fleet group..

For ATR the diff. between the 500 and 200 series is only some 10-15 kts TAS which is still in the margin (so their scheduled times are always the same regardless of variant used).

Is that a opinion or a fact? because i found this, yes i use in AWS many Q400 and would be nice to have the same fleet group of Q100 200 300

Please read again what I said there.

If you wish to restrict the Q400 to a 100 kt slower cruising speed, then we can combine them. But I guess not. Since all models in the same fleet group are restricted to the same speed profile since their schedules must be interchangeable.

it is a design decision to make groups according to speed. Makes the game more playable. I agree with Sami on this.

Is it possible to have a "compatibility mode" which would reduce the speed of the new model to be type compatible with the older one if it has enough actual (parts, training etc) compatibility?

You could make it so it is a conversion of the type which costs almost nothing but takes enough time that someone can't crash the system by flipping the types too often. And doing the conversion could reduce range/increase fuel consumption relative to speed by a slight amount to account for the unoptimized speed.
