Server issues?

It's actually just dumb luck I was able to get onto the forum... since about 16 hours ago I haven't been able to access either of my games, with my browser just constantly "waiting for airwaysim.com..."

Has anyone else been having this problem?

SACEO

I've had no trouble at all and I was in and out through the early morning hours (AM here in Denver, CO) and have been online continuously since about 7:50am this morning.  I've had no issues at all - Forums or Game Area.

swiftus27

no problems all day here.

Jupiter

Strangely, I can get it to work on my iPhone consistently, but trying to actually do anything more than look at how the airline is doing is kinda challenging in the mobile version.

I know one of my friend have this kind of problem, it resumed normal after 1 day ;)

Jupiter

Glad to hear. My current solution is tethering internet through the phone, but that seems ridiculous when I have a router beside me. :)

wtdawg

Same problem for me.  Trying to post this for the third time.

Sami

No known problems.

But just for info you could try to ping airwaysim.com.

And then try loading nebula.fi or flightforum.fi - they are located in same server hotel among other sites..

AlistairS

I've had connection issues since about 10pm last night EST.

Sorry but just stating to have connection issues does not help in getting to know where the problem is, I'd need more details:

As I'd need to figure it out is it on our server hotel or somewhere outside of it. Though I belive it is some larger "core cable" between continents or countries that has problems, since I'm having none. Guessing some US-Europe cable since all you guys are from Canada or US.

So, pls make a ping to:

airwaysim.com
flightforum.fi
nebula.fi
norwegian.no

(last one in Norway, others in Finland ..)

* any lost packets?
* what is the average ping?

Then could be tried also with web browser to see if there is any "visible" slowliness.

(my averages are:  airwaysim.com => 29ms, nebula.fi => 29ms, flightforum.fi => 29ms, norwegian.no => 72ms, with no lost packets to any  ... and to US: whitehouse.gov => 179ms with nothing lost on the way)

I'm not sure if this is connected, but when you preview a PM it comes up with the screenshot below.  I've not had any other errors or delays though

Sami

That has been reported.. though nobody told me it was on PM previews, and not message previews, so I was a bit lost .. But now I know  :P

(and it's not related)

AlistairS

Sami,

Accessing all other websites, including UK sites (BBC) works fine and response speed is good.

When I access airwaysim, the page download speeds are slow and on some occations time out, even the dashboard page. When I try to schedule flights of lease aircraft  I get an error message informing me that my pc 'cannot connect to the server' and give a error code 12029.

Alistair

Sami

Yep, but would still need the ping data or other real numerical info on this..

Anyone?

ahem..?  How can you post that if all your pings were lost? You basically shouldn't be connected at all. :P

(ie. a bit strange)

Could you do then a tracert also, to see which IP it is trying to connect to.

And also a ping to server2.airwaysim.com and server3.airwaysim.com.

very rarely, but occasionally I can get through from my main internet. Tethering through my iPhone, I can do it for whatever reason. That's what I'm doing now.

I'm in the process of doing a trace right now. This was the result after about a minute.

.14 IP is correct, so it's not a DNS issue (pointing to wrong server) at least.

How's the ping to server2.aws and server3?  I believe server #2 was the same as flightforum, so it should be the same - and server3 is located in the very exact same server rack as this server and and also server 2 ...  So I cannot see why connection to two other servers would work but this doesn't.

I also tried ping/trace here without problems: http://network-tools.com/     ..going to test a few other online locations too.

Some of the atlas.cogentco.com servers seem to be down and it's causing problems here, at least I cannot reach those two servers, but am able to reach some other servers of that company.

QuoteCogent network issues
May 4th, 2010 @ 03:57 AM

Update @10:45 AM CDT: Cogent's EU NOC are still investigating the issue that some of our European customers are seeing with packet loss.

Update: Rackspace Backbone engineers are working with Cogent to determine the cause of what seems to be approximately 30% or so packet loss on routes from Southern and parts of Western Europe. Note this is a third-party routing issue and the slices themselves are fine.

We're seeing intermittent network issues on Cogent's network that appear to affect European customers. We've informed Cogent and will report updates as we have them.

Perhaps a browser issue? For me, aws used to work really bad with IE, pretty heavy loading times. With Safari it's much better on my PC.
