Short lived extra maintenance

So I was bored yesterday, and decided to bring all airplanes to 100% technical condition. It's a daunting task, as it cannot be done in bulk, at least I was not able to find it, but I had to open planes one by one and perform extra maintenance.

Average condition before extra maintenance had been 95.2% or 95.7%, I'm not sure now. Average condition today is 94.2%, lower than before. I have A320neos and ATRs less than 1 year old, some of them are at 90-93% now.

It does not look normal to me, why did it happen? It's The Speed World, if that matters.

as long as you do A/B/C/D checks, and can pay for all of them - and your staff is not on strike - it is all fine and nothing to worry about. your planes wont crash.

essentially planes slide backwards in maintenance condition. A B check can add up to, I think, 10% of maintenance repair. A C or Dcheck gets the plane to 100% regardless of whether it was 62% or 90%. When I tried to understand the decay in maintenance didn't seem related to the maintenance % or age, just seemed random. The decay also wasn't linked to airframes, it's not like some planes were dog and decayed quickly.

As the previous poster said maintenance doesn't figure much in keeping your airline going. Well the expense does, planes definitely should be scrapped past 30 or so years, and anything over 18 years is going to have a no-go D check expense unless you're filthy rich and own the plane and intend to operate it to the end of the game.

That's not correct; each check (A-D) will raise the condition with a certain percentage amount, not to 100.

But by using the standard A/B checks in schedule and doing C/D checks when they are due the condition of the plane should be always >90% which is sufficient for any normal operations. But it will fluctuate between ~90 and 100% during the regular operations, depending on number of cycles flown and other factors (with a small random element too).

Shortly: It does quite many things there, but with automation on, you don't really need to worry about the maintenance.
