When did engine costs get more expensive?

Tried searching, so if already in a thread, pls post a link

Otherwise, I always recall engine costs were relatively minor component of fleet commonality.  I've noticed they are now quite significant.  For the F27, the monthly engine maintenance is more than the air frame maintenance.  I Might be crazy, but it always seemed like it was about 25-33% of the plane commonality cost vs closer to 80%+ now.  Is this a recent change or I'm just not remembering this correctly?

hmmmm ...  I have a single fleet type in GW1 and fleet commonality costs of airframe and engines are the same! I would have thought engines would be cheaper as you said.... or airframes more expensive?

don't know. GW2, my comm costs :

Quote
Il-18
Number of aircraft in fleet    21
Administrative costs / month    44 498 USD
Fixed maintenance costs / month    323 111 USD
Crew training / month    243 429 USD
Total    611 038 USD

Viscount
Number of aircraft in fleet    14
Administrative costs / month    21 200 USD
Fixed maintenance costs / month    124 899 USD
Crew training / month    109 146 USD
Total    255 245 USD

Engines
AI-20M
Number of aircraft in fleet    21
Number of engines in fleet    84
Fixed maintenance costs / month    386 859 USD

Dart RDa.6 Mk.510
Number of aircraft in fleet    14
Number of engines in fleet    56
Fixed maintenance costs / month    151 343 USD

so I pay nearly the double for birds than for engines. Seems OK to me.

Now GW3, with a far more complex fleet structure, especially in terms of engines :

Quote
A320
Number of aircraft in fleet   112
Total   5 344 685 USD

B767
Number of aircraft in fleet   67
Total   10 325 157 USD

Number of engines in fleet   84
Fixed maintenance costs / month   672 685 USD

PW4062

Number of engines in fleet   60

AE-2100A
Number of aircraft in fleet   879
Number of engines in fleet   1758
Fixed maintenance costs / month   9 211 346 USD

RB211-524H
Number of aircraft in fleet   1
Number of engines in fleet   2
Models using engines   Boeing 767
Fixed maintenance costs / month   167 555 USD
880 aircraft are using Rolls-Royce engines.

harder to read, but seems like the engines costs are even lower. Which fits with the fact that in the later ages, I'm flying bimotors, while in the ancient times, I do fly quadrimotors. The most readable is for my huge fleet of S2000 : I pay 3 for birds, 1 for engines.

This is in GW1, definitely a much higher proportion of overall commonality costs coming from engines than I remember.

Not sure how yours is closer to 80% for your F.27's - my engine maintenance is less than 50% of the airframe cost.
