Paying slot fees for closing routes?
« on: June 06, 2019, 07:08:07 PM »
Hi,

There have been a couple of times in the last few weeks (game time) where I've closed routes on unprofitable planes which I put into storage, and each time, I seem to be getting hit with slot fees. This one, closing some EGKK routes, is a doozy:

   Airport slot fees   -4 324 700 USD

Why oh why am I paying slot fees in routes I just closed? Surely I should get GETTING paid to hand these slots back. Especially at Gatwick, where the prices are astronomical at this point.

It's a bean counting thing - https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Manual/Office/Accounting/

You have a couple transactions here -

Purchasing a slot - Asset (cash) is traded for another asset (a slot). No expense is recognized at this time.

Returning a slot (disposal) - Asset is disposed of for $0, expense is recognized in the amount of the loss (acquisition cost minus $0) since you no longer control/own/use the asset.

Ahhhhh.. Thank you :)

I do wish the manual had a search function (that's my excuse for not knowing this, and I'm sticking to it  :))
